Sep 24, 2015 8:14 AM in response to LeXavDu42by Handi Andi,im a brave soul (idiot) , so nupdated to 9.01 ,did not fix issue , noting that I did the original 9 update @ an Aplple store over their wifi!
I did my ipod touch 8.4.1 ( that had been transferring great) to 9.01 in iTunes on my iMac .... same result ...so as the saying goes , repeating the same thing with same result is ....

Sep 24, 2015 9:10 AM in response to sparta81by Hawaiian_Starman,Changing the behavior of how the IOS update process works without informing users of such change seemingly has created a lot of confusion. I'm using the 9.1 beta 2 and this iTunes update sync issue is not fixed...and perhaps from Apple's perspective there is nothing to fix? However, clear communication about these types of substantive changes, especially for those using multiple IOS devices, would be most appreciated.

Sep 24, 2015 2:51 PM in response to sparta81by xlaufen,I've been following several conversations on the "apps not syncing to iTunes with iOS 9 issue". Here is what I found from reading forums and spending countless hours trouble shooting.
1. If you back up your iOS device, it will create a back up or a "snapshot" of what apps you have, how they are organized and contain current app updates and app specific data.
2. You can restore from that back up but it will tell your device to download the app from the app store via your devices wifi. If wifi is not on, your apps will be grayed out until you connect your device to wifi. The idea behind this is to free up space on your computer's hard drive.
3. If you want the app file on your computer, you can go to the app store in iTunes and click on purchased. From there you may click download all or download apps individually. You can also update all apps as well.
This move by apple is definitely troublesome but not a surprise. Along with other companies, they will be pushing cloud, cloud, cloud. A little warning next time would be nice for many of us spent the first several days wondering what the issue was and wondering if it was a bug that would be fixed. The answer seems to be no with many users on this thread talking to apple representatives and finding out the same thing, this drastic change was planned.
Good luck.

Sep 24, 2015 2:58 PM in response to xlaufenby bodrossy,Thank you for the clarification. I hoped this is the way it is going to work.
One advice for all who would like to have the apps on their harddrives: check automatic app download in itunes prefernces, all newly installed ios app will be downloaded. At least this is how it works for me at the moment.

Sep 25, 2015 1:33 AM in response to sparta81by raabnz,I spoke with Apple support regarding home screens and apps not displaying per my previous posts screenshot.
Apparently it's a known issue that's starting to emerge, suggest if you haven't already to log a support call regarding that specific issue.

Sep 25, 2015 1:48 AM in response to Ar.Yogiby mattplowman,I have the spinning wheel problem too. Wont be logging a call as that will no doubt cost me $$$, just to report an issue with their software/hardware

Sep 25, 2015 3:01 AM in response to sparta81by Jgillard,Same problem here. Going to be moving to the new phone today and my internet is slow as ****. Would much rather do a full iTunes backup and restore.

Sep 25, 2015 6:08 AM in response to Airborne_1by Depths of One,Awesome, this makes total sense now why they turned off this feature. They want people to free up space on their 16gb devices by downloading the smaller version of apps from the cloud instead of restoring the larger version of the apps from their iTunes backups.
