now before anyone says anything, I have literally gone on every link everyone one has suggested on almost every Google search.

i have been trying all night and I am about to give up, if someone could help me, I will be thankful

I don't have any other suggestions. I've noticed the "Call failed" error myself, and it later stopped happening for no reason that I know of. As I wrote earlier, Continuity is not reliable and you can't depend on it to work.

Agreed, not reliable at all. I need to sign out and in of FaceTime almost every time I restart the Mac.

Reference a previous comment, using Cellular Calling without a Wifi connected Mac:

I have the same problem recently and tried everything here, re-enable FaceTime, checked and re-checked my iCloud account on both, mac and iPhone, rebooted everything an nothing helped.

Finally I realized I was using 2 network interfaces at the same time, my wifi and my ethernet cable. I think it confuses the Mac and then I got that "call failed" message.

I turned off the ethernet cable and my calls start working again.

Maybe this is not the same problem you have, but is one more thing that you can check.

    Best regards

What a relief, this helped me fix the issue! I was really missing this feature on my mac and now I can use it again!

HUGE THANK YOU to you, Roberto aka rmassar!

I had the same issue, and found that my Ethernet adapter was in a higher order than WiFi. I changed the order in Network preferences pane, by clicking on the gear icon below the adapters, and selecting Set Serice Order and moving WiFi above my TBolt Ethernet service. This fixed the issue for me. However, it defaults to WiFi instead of Ethernet, so I am capped at WiFi speeds instead of gigabit through ethernet. Not the end of the world, for now.
