Q: iTunes was not installed correctly Error 7 Windows error 193

Hi. I would like to begin with saying that I've tried everything to resolve this problem (yeah, I searched for similar discussions here on apple forum), but nothing helped.

As the titte says when I try to launch iTunes I get an error messege:

iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193)

It's important to mention that iTunes was working fine yesterday, but then I decided to update it to the newest version. After the update I keep getting the error messege which is mentioned above.

First, I tried repairing all the Apple programs (iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, Apple Application Support) without any luck, so I decided to uninstall them. I also deleted the Apple folders from program files and program files (x86) and also from common files (both program files and program files x86).

I've restarted my computer, downloaded the latest version of iTunes from the Apple website. Ran the installer as admin, installed it and when I wanted o launch it, the error messege was the same.

I did this procedure several times, because I was desperately searching google for any help.

Is there any solution for this? It's really frustrating because I can't transfer anything to my iPhone and can't save my stuff. I'm running Windows 10 (up-to-date).

iPhone 6, Other OS, OS-Windows 10

    Hi Daveb517,

I was wondering if you had any luck in fixing this issue. I had exactly the same issue, with the exactly the same update, and with the same OSs.

    Cheers,

    Hello Flavotti,

No, unfortunately I had no luck fixing the issue. I've also contacted the Microsoft support, they actually responded, but the solutions they provided me did not solve my problem.I'm waiting for Apple Support to respond, but it seems like they don't really care. I guess I've tried everything in order to fix this issue.

I assume there's nothing more to do than just wait for the next update and hopefully it will solve this thing.

By the way, you wrote that you had the same issue and since you're speaking in past tense I assume you fixed it somehow. Am I wrong? If you did, would you be so kind and help me? Pretty please? I'm really desperate...

    Regards,

EDIT: I was thinking about the fact that iTunes is not working since the last update. Then an idea hit me. What if I download a later version? Will it launch? So I did. I downloaded iTunes 12.2.2 (I uninstalled the previous iTunes following the steps provided by Apple support which can be found on the website) and installed it and a miracle happened. My iTunes is working again!

In conclusion, do not download the newest version of iTunes (for some reason it did not work on my Windows 10).Rather wait for version 12.3.x.

No problem! I'm glad I could help. Hopefully with the next version of iTunes there won't be such issue like this one.

Thank you so much, this same problem had been driving me nuts. I did exactly what you suggested and itunes is back and running with no problems.

I'm surprised an older iTunes worked. From the article about the error, If you see Error 7 (Windows error 193) when you try to install iTunes for Windows - Apple Support, it sounds like an older version of C:\Windows\System32\msvcr100.dll is installed and you should set it aside and replace it with the one from iTunes / Apple.
