Q: iTunes password in Apple TV won't work

When I try to sign in to iTunes in my Apple TV, I get this message: Could Not Sign In AMD-Action:authenticate:SP message on Apple TV. My password is correct and works when I submit it to iCloud Help

    Hi marcia1955,

Out of curiosity, when you go Settings > General > About, what is the Apple TV Software Version say?

I have exactly the same problem and the Apple TV Software Version is 7.1(7003) and the model number is A1469.

Interestingly there is problem signing into iCloud.

What you'll want to do is go into Settings > General > Reset, and choose Restore as the option. This will force the Apple TV to reset to factory settings, and update it to the latest software which is 7.2. This should resolve the issue.

Thank you, upgrading to 7.2 did help. But Apple Music from iTunes is still missing. Any chance that it will be available on Apple TV?

Tried this 3 times. got to the end of downloading each time and then got an error that "the update was not successful" and instructed me to restart.

Still have the problem the OP described.

Could be the internet connection, or it could be hardware.

What speed are you getting with your connection? And is it connected to the Apple TV via WiFi or Ethernet?

Assuming that still doesn't fix it, it might well be a hardware issue. I would take it into the Apple Store if possible to see if they can figure out what's wrong with it. Experience says they'll give you a new one as there is not much to repair with the Apple TV's.

As far as I know, Apple Music itself will be working when the new Apple TV model drops this fall. I don't think it supports the programming needed for that feature.

I did this and my Apple TV stopped working completely. Kept showing the apple logo and would restart over and over. Took it the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store and they couldn't fix it either. Was out of warranty and they would not replace the device even though it all started with software issues.

Sorry to hear this crashed the Apple TV, it definitely should not have under any circumstances.

Just to check: was anything unplugged from the Apple TV while it was restoring? Any loss of internet connection?

Thankfully, there is a backup to this method of restoring. Just plug the Apple TV into a computer with iTunes, using a Micro-USB cord and the power cord (into an outlet) and iTunes should let you restore it there.

Of course, I didn't mean to imply that the Genius Bar in the Apple Store will always replace the unit. If it's out of warranty, they wouldn't be able to replace it. That just seems to be the normal course for them.
