Q: Y Spotlight Fail

ios 9 update and spotlight search on letter Y brings up nothing. All other letters search fine. Siri can be asked to launch Yelp app, but there is no way for me to search for it using the swipe down and typing anything starting with Y.

really weirf. Happens in 9.01 too.

    Hello sinoue,

Thank you for continuing to be an active member in the Apple Support Communities and for posting this question!

To begin troubleshooting this situation, I would first suggest checking your Spotlight Search Siri Suggestions to make sure that all of your apps are enabled.

    Change search settings

Go to Settings > General > Spotlight Search.

From here, you can turn Siri Suggestions on or off and choose which apps to include in your searches. For example, if you don’t want to see search results from your Messages app, you can deselect Messages.

If you don’t want Siri or Spotlight to suggest nearby locations, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Then tap System Services and turn off Safari & Spotlight Suggestions.

Use Search on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If all of your apps, including those that start with the letter “Y” are enabled and the issue continues, try restarting your iPhone and testing again.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Please reply and let us know if these steps were able to help you resolve this issue or to provide any further information. We’re glad you’re a part of the Apple Support Communities and can’t wait to hear more from you! :)

    Have a great day!
