Q: Photos no longer recognizes any of the photographs that I attempt to import....suddenly!

Photos on my MacBook Pro no longer recognizes, and will no longer import, any of the photographs I try to upload. Not sure how to fix this. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

J

We can not see you so yu have to provide details - What version of Photos? Of the OS What has changed since it worked? What exactly does happen? where are you importing from and exactly how are you importing? Where is the Photos library located? If on an External Hard Drive how is it connected and what format is it?

    Hi thanks,

It is version 1.0.1 of 'Photos'

It is on my MacBook Pro (c2009)

    I recently installed OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

I can no longer import photos of any sort the normal way; either from SLR with (admittedly older) CF card and converter, or through my iphone when I plug it in etc. I get an error reading, and a 'cannot import files; either there is no data or...etc'

This has just begun to happen. I have no idea how to get things back on track.

Thanks for any help you can offer!!

As a test launch Photos with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Try to import some photos to test to see if the same problem persists or if the problem is limited to your current library. Does it?

I opened with option key pressed and indeed was able to load photos into the new test library.

That tells us the culprit is your primary library.  Repair the library according to this Apple document: Repair Your Library.
