Sep 2, 2015 6:35 AM in response to Keith Weissharby Mr.8X,It's so annoying! Apple wants Windows users to buy Macs. For me it's especially arduous because I use a video editing programm which needs QuickTime. To install 7.7.7 is a good work-around but you feel that it's not optimised for Windows 10. Please update you r QuickTimePlayer Apple!

Sep 10, 2015 2:14 PM in response to Keith Weissharby bnwimmer,Just use 7.7.6
It installs on Windows 10, but it is not the latest version, but I do not care about that.
Needed it for GoPro Studio. Now it works again.

Sep 11, 2015 7:30 AM in response to bnwimmerby tns42,Both 7.7.7 and 7.7.8 were security fixes.
NO DO NOT JUST USE 7.7.6. Install 7.7.8. Not sure what problems people are having using the bypass previous posted. I had no trouble in getting installed with the small install modify file listed. Once its installed, you can even use the regular install to "repair" it if you think some files are not "vanilla" apple.
Apple Needs to fix the install file.

Sep 12, 2015 4:51 AM in response to AndreiV3103by tns42,You can use Tommynation alternate 2 to install. http://tommynation.com/install-quicktime-windows-10/
Download 7.7.8 from Apple site. Unzip the APPLE install file or if you don't have or want one of the unzip programs that can do the exe files, you can run the apple install until you see the message about about not Windows Vista or Windows 7. At that point the files have been all unzipped to a temp directory in your temp directory. Copy these files to a new directory C:\QT and then click Ok on the install window.
Download Tommy's transform file http://tommynation.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/FIX.zip and copy the mst file in it to your c:\QT directory.
Open Command prompt as admin. cd \QT then Run the Msinstaller as follows.
msiexec /i QuickTime.msi /qn TRANSFORMS=FIX.mst ALLUSERS=1 /log C:\QT\install.log
Install is now complete for Quicktime itself. To make sure all the pieces install you could click the other MSi files but I suggest actually running the Apple install again and tell it to repair the install.

Sep 12, 2015 7:11 PM in response to helgroby tns42,
Helgo and NannaLesley,If you follow the steps I mentioned and documented in tommynation, it should install. WHAT ERROR are you getting. It can't be the popup window as this occurs in the graphic install. It would have to be an error that shows up in C:\QT\install.log .

Sep 14, 2015 1:27 AM in response to Keith Weissharby mimBreyn,Mileage is going to vary folks. I followed the steps for both option 1 and option 2 and they failed. Despite the exploit in the other install package, I went ahead and installed it, and it worked. Normally I wouldn't do this except I am building a project in Unity, and QuickTime is a necessary component for the build. Hopefully Apple fixes their installer soon. I would hate to think that Apple is doing this deliberately. If they are, they are opening themselves up to so much liability for a class action suit. Fix the problem Apple.

Sep 18, 2015 4:43 AM in response to Keith Weissharby Yoda_Phone,Here is how to make this work
Download the offline package from here QuickTime 7.7.8 for Windows
Use WinRAR to extract the file
Download & install a MSI Editor. I recommend http://www.instedit.com/
Install it & open the file QuickTime.msi
on the right side, under tables select LaunchCondition & delete these 2 rows,
(VersionNT>501) AND (VersionNT<=603)
BUSEROSVERSION AND (BUSEROSVERSION<10)
save it & run now in compatibility mode. it will install

Sep 24, 2015 1:00 AM in response to Yoda_Phoneby Narr Apple,This seemed simple, used safe downloads and applications (if you believe Norton), and the result apparently installed fine.
- You can use 7Zip instead of WinRAR to extract the msi
- I didn't have to use any compatibility modes to run the fixed msi on Windows 10 and do the install.
All in all, pretty inexcusable for Apple to let this problem hang around -- and to advertise on the Quicktime download site that the one they are offering is only for Windows 7 and Vista. Vista?? Anyway, it shows they are very aware.
Btw, thank you kindly, Yoda_Phone.

Sep 26, 2015 12:54 PM in response to Narr Appleby nucleardirk,It failed to me anyway, 2229 appears all the time.
BUT - looks I found a solution!!!
I assume the most people having problems here even if the follow all those nice hints here do have a non US / english installation.
So it was mine - with german windows 10.
The way how it works - change in the windows settings the language and region and format etc. to USA / English!
Reboot - install Quicktime as mentioned above - and change back to german etc.....
worked for me!
Found the hint here:

Oct 4, 2015 11:19 PM in response to Keith Weissharby jcdueck,Might be a little late to the party on this one, but if people are still having trouble I found a solution that worked for me. By installing a program that requires an installation of quicktime built in, I was able to get it onto Windows 10 without any custom installers or weird command prompt runarounds. For me I downloaded and installed Davinci Resolve 12 (free) and it self-directed a "necessary installation of quicktime". Honestly all I did was install Davinci as suggested and now I have Quicktime. Maybe it'll work for others too. Worth a try with free and awesome software. link to the site:

Hope it helps someone. Peace.

Oct 5, 2015 4:15 AM in response to jcdueckby tns42,
jcdueck,I would check what version of quicktime you have. You want the latest. 7.7.8 last I checked. Many products include a quicktime install, but often an out of date version.
