Q: 10.10.5 (14F27) loss of monitor resolutions

Problem: screen resolution disappeared after Yosemite update 10.10.5 (14F27) on August 21

My system configuration:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)

Graphics Intel Iris 1536 MB

External Monitor: LG222WT  (resolution:  1680x1050)

Questions:

Did the recent update include a driver update?

Is anyone else experiencing this and know of a fix?

I have no idea how I can add/see additional resolutions.

Description:
For two years, my monitor and laptop configuration has been fine. Now, after recent update 10.10.5 (14F27), my external LG L222WT monitor defaults to 800x600 resolution, because it's native resolution of 1680x1050 is no longer available.

This problem can't be solved by opening the Display Preferences, then option-clicking the scaled radio button, because the 1600x105 resolution simply isn't in the list, which is limited even in its expanded form.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

I installed the Quadro & Geforce MAC OS X Driver release 346.02.03 .... and yes i have the Intel Iris 1536 MB card just like you.

Anyway, after installing it nothing seemed to immediately happen that was different.  Then i came back later in the day and now it works after turning the monitor on again.  So if it doesn't work immediately after installing the nvdia driver try rebooting once more and turning off/on your ext monitor.  An additional note: the resolution is back on "Default for Display" instead of scaled.  One final point, the only other thing i did which i really don't think has anything to do with the fact that my video card now works, is i started the install of El Capitan (the beta of the new os for mac) but it never finished and i stopped the download after i found my mac was working.  I checked system properties and it still shows me on Yosemite 10.10.5
