I am using Mac Book Pro Retina Display.  I spent so much of time to get the best colour of a video clip using colour board in FCP X.  I am shocked by seeing that it has totally changed to undesirable colour, when I calibrated the Display Colour Profile of my Mac book Pro.  So whatever I am seeing is related to my Macbook calibration.  Now, what is the true colour?  Where is the true colour? How do I calibrate to the internationally accepted standard colour? Help please.

Thank you.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Revert back to the default setting for you computer display. No need to calibrate.

There are nine different Colour Display Profiles in my Macbook, I do not know the name of the default setting.  Would you please name the default setting of the Macbook Retina Display, so that I can revert back to the default setting.  The previous setting was not the default setting; that was set by me 2 years back for some reason.

    Thank you

you can search the net for proper calibration techniques and settings for the various retina displays. If you do not have a transmission sensor and associated software, try sRGB.

But proper color grading for professional video really can only be estimated on a laptop. You need scopes, a monitor capable of being standardized, and controlled viewing conditions including lighting and viewing angle. And you need to know if the delivery to the audience will be by projectr (and what quality) or screen (LCD, OLED, LED?), or arean-style LED matrix? These all have different color spaces.

Thanks.  It appears that it is going to become more complex.   Instead getting into high professional level of calibrating, to some extent, won't it be better accurate to some extent (than a wide range of colour confusion), if I set to the default setting in my Macbook Pro Retina display.  My delivery to audience is going to be on pen drives to watch on computers. So what is the name of the default setting of 'Colour Display Profiles' for a Macbook Pro Retina Display, Mid 2012 make.

    Thank you

    Thanks for the replies.

I learned the lesson, what colour we see, need not be true and it is a purely relative quantity.

My videos are professional content, going to be watched in computer screens by many people.

So can I expect the 'Colour LCD default setting of MacBook Pro Retina Display' to be the closest match for all other Computer and Laptop screen's default colour -  just a easier way to match the standard colours without going into a professional way to set the colours. I am just looking for a decent colour in other computer as well without much of variations. Is my approach O.K or is there a better way.  I need a final confirmation please.

    Thank you.
