Thank you for your continued involvement in the Apple Support Communities and for posting this question!
I understand that the iOS update to your iPad went pretty quick, but the update on your iPhone is taking longer than expected. This situation can be normal behavior depending on the number of files on your device. If the issue continues, I would suggest reading over the information in the attached article to begin troubleshooting.
Please reply and let us know if the information in the article was helpful or to provide further information. We know that unexpected issues while updating can be very frustrating, but I want to assure you that we are here to help! :)
We’re glad that you are a part of the Apple support communities and can’t wait to hear more from you!
Best!

Sep 27, 2015 9:41 AM in response to joe_7399by PING11,Hi Joe,
Many thanks for your reply. However i left the iPhone updating for around 4 hours and there was still no further progress with the update
so i took the decision to unplug the iPhone which of course then needed to be restored to factory settings which i wast too concerned
about as i do have backups etc.
The iPhone is now fully working and when it did the factory restore it put on IOS 9.01 so it is all up to date.
There must have obviously been some sort of glitch somewhere but all is now working fine.
Regards Adrian
