Q: WatchOS 2 update stuck at verifying stage

iPhone 6 updated to iOS 9.0.1. Have attempted to upgrade Apple Watch to OS 2. Downloaded ok but will not go past 'verifying' stage. Any suggestions?

Try resetting your network connections on your iPhone (note: you will need to re-enter all saved Wi-Fi passwords afterwards):

    • On your iPhone: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

If that does not help, try unpairing and re-pairing your Apple Watch and iPhone:

After battling with this over the weekend, turning off both my Apple watch and iPhone has fixed the issue of the installation being stuck on 'verifying'. Wasted a lot of my time!

I've done all that is listed above and then got an error message stating that there was an error installing iOS2.  It gave me the option of clicking "done" or "more detail".  I clicked on detail and then it went on say it's "installing", but nothing seems to be happening on the watch.  I am so frustrated and annoyed at this process.

    Hi Jen

As your app has seemingly stalled on "installing" rather than "verifying", it may be prudent to contact Apple Support before taking any further steps:

Otherwise, before restarting both devices as suggested by NDJ-CIL, it may help to first close all open apps on the iPhone, including the Apple Watch app. You can do this by double-pressing on the Home button, then swiping up on each of the app previews. When restarting, turn both devices off and restart the iPhone first. This process has worked for a number of others.

Turning them both off worked for me.
