Q: Migration assistant failed to migrate user's account

Hello,

I need to send my MacBook Pro (mid 2010 model) to repair. So I tried to migrate my user account (settings, app settings, data...) to another iMac (Mid 2010 model)

Both computers run the latest Yosemite OS.

I could run the migration assistant and launch the migration. but at the last end, I got an error message like: "Migration assistant failed to migrate" with no more explanation.

I tried many times with different situations: a) same user account (same ID, same password, same privileges) in both computers: full migration then topic specific (partial) migration; b) deleting the user account on the target computer then trying full then some topic only at once): no on was successful!

So, I wold like to know:

1) Is there any log file I can open to see more in details what happened? Where such a log file is located?

2) Are there any setting I should pay attention to in order to get a "safe" and successful migration?

3) Is there any way to make a "manual" migration? What should then be the steps? What I want most are the settings (OS level & application level settings). I don't care too much about the data, which I could copy easily.

Thank you so much in advance for any help
