Sep 22, 2015 9:05 AM in response to beeccccaby mario49,★HelpfulHi beecccca,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like the iPhone can't be powered off and the touchscreen is opening apps on its own. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.
If the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond to touch - Apple Support
Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
To force restart your device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Cheers

Sep 24, 2015 7:58 AM in response to mario49by stefaniefromca,Hi.. What if my Home button does not work? It hasn't been working for some time and I use the assistive touch on my screen. The rest of the touch screen does not work as of this morning. I can press and hold the Sleep Wake button but when the "slide to power off" appears, I can't even slide it. My alarm has been going off for hours and I can't "slide to stop alarm", been pressing the sleep/wake or volume buttons to snooze in the meantime. Unfortunately, my battery isn't draining fast enough so it can just reset on its own. I'm afraid though that once it's drained, it may never power back on.
So long story short, I can't power down or force restart my phone. Please help.
I have an iPhone 5, just updated to IOS 9 last week.
Thanks,
Stefanie

Sep 24, 2015 10:05 AM in response to beeccccaby Andre Molina,★HelpfulI'm sure it's a software problem, take the iPhone into an authorized service center does not solve the problem. I have had this problem at least in the last three versions of ios, with iPhone 5, 5s and 6 plus. I have complained to Apple and did not have an answer, I think they do not know how to solve it. when I start the iphone from zero the problem gets solved for a while, when I restored the backup of an old iPhone the problem is copied together.
Apple doesn't know how to fix the problem, they just say "reset the Fone". They don't care about this problem because iPhone still selling a lot. Apple should care and respect people that use your apple products.

Sep 24, 2015 12:36 PM in response to beeccccaby PrewittMD,★HelpfulThis is happening to me too. Touch screen is totally intermittent and phone is basically useless unless it is in one of the "windows" where it works normally for 10 minutes or so...after that, phone goes bonkers. This is ridiculous. TERRIBLE update Apple.....SHAME on you. FIX THIS NOW OR I WILL HURL THIS PHONE AT THE CLOSEST APPLE EMPLOYEE I CAN FIND.

Ive done all trouble shooting, including resetting the phone, backing it up. Nothing works but as you guys know iphone 6s just came out and to get an appointment at apple is going to take some time. What i went ahead and did was contact tmobile and they are sending me a new phone on tuesday. Good luck people

Sep 28, 2015 6:42 PM in response to beeccccaby NiaMc,Same issue except my phone also shows these faint lines that become more distinct the longer im using my phone. The distiction of the lines also correlates with how effective my phone is, so as the lines become more visible my phones touchscreen ability becomes less and less affective. These lines look like this on

Sep 28, 2015 9:44 PM in response to beeccccaby FaMcH,★HelpfulSame issue here, downgrading to IOS 8.4.1 didn`t work, so far i have done 3 hard resets, configured my iphone as a new one, and tried IOS 9, 9.0.1 and 8.4.1 and the problem doesn`t go away. Everything was fine before installing ios 9.0.1 for the first time...

Sep 29, 2015 6:18 AM in response to beeccccaby ryanhMKE,I'm also having the same problem. I tried restarting as suggested, with no luck. I guess that's what I get for updating to the new iOS as soon as it came out (from a quick Google search, Apple had this same problem in 2013 AND 2014). ...same bad song.

Sep 29, 2015 9:15 AM in response to beeccccaby Inkspot_77,★HelpfulWe have all paid a lot of money for our phones. We shouldn't have to be hassled with rebooting our phones, just to check apps or make phone calls. It seems silly. I really hoped iOS 9.01 would of solved this issue, but no such luck. Don't make us tempted to go to the dark side with Android. Please fix this issue. I have reset factory settings as well, to no use. The only thing is rebooting phone and sometimes you have to do it multiple times to get it to work.
