Q: Mainstage 3.2 critical glitch: Deleting lyrics and waveform

*sigh*

Man, this is really frustrating.

First off, bad on me. I know better than to upgrade to a .0 release. I guess my excitement for Alchemy got the best of me.

Problem 1: Deleting lyrics every time

Description:

I had an entire concert built for my band with patches for each section of the song, lyrics, etc.
After the upgrade, all of my lyrics and chords in every patch (over 100, for reference) are gone. It's the default "Your text or lyrics" message.

So I go through and reenter all of them, hitting save after every patch. I make a backup of the file on a different drive.

Upon reopening? Nothing. Default text again. No lyrics/chords.

I tried deleting the text box from the layout, and then recreating it as a new object. Reentered all lyrics. Saved after every patch. Made a backup.

Nothing. Once I reopen, all text goes back to the default message. Conveniently, we had to play a show yesterday with none of our lyrics.

Problem 2:

On screen Waveform will not retain association with Playback plugin. Same as problem 1. I associate it for each playback instance/patch/set. Hit save multiple times, make a backup. Upon reopening...it's a blank waveform again.

I made a tutorial recently...and while it's not directly about lyrics, per se...it shows how I use them and adjust them for live performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGwlp1hpl_k

    Little disappointment though...

I managed to recover my old patches and included lyrics - BUT, I'm not able to change the text fields and if I create a new textfield and write something into it, it's not there after saving and reopening!!! Now I'm gonna try to make a complete new concert from scratch, importing my existing patches. Pain goes on... :-(

This is marked as "solved"?! The answer which supposedly solved this problem says it was fixed on version 3.2.1 however I started using Mainstage on v3.2.2 and it was evident, and now having upgraded to 3.2.3 it is EVEN WORSE.

I'm in 3.2.3 now and the Waveform issue is worse than ever. Please somebody if you know how to fix this let us know. It's pretty crippling when I show up to a gig and all the waveform information is gone...

I've just finished a whole workday of troubleshooting this very problem instead of making music. I'm on 3.2.3 as well.

In regards to disappearing waveforms or empty waveforms display in the workspace (sorry, can't help with the lyrics/chords issue)... I went through several adds and removals of the playback plugin but I think what finally cinched it was the following series of actions:

    1. Deleted Playback plugin instances at the Patch level:

Highlighting each Patch in the Patch List in the left column (not the 'Set' folder but just below each one), if there was a Playback channel at the Patch level, I deleted it from the 'Channel Strips' column on the right.

    2. Added a Playback plugin instance at the Set level:

Now highlighting each Set in the Patch List in the left column (yes, the 'Set' folder icons) I went to the 'Channel Strips' column on the right and clicked the top right gear icon and selected 'Import Audio Files' and selected my audio file.

    3. Associated the new audio with the waveform display:

As soon as the Playback plugin instance was created, I selected the waveform display in the Workspace and clicked on the playback track audio file in the 'Screen Control Inspector' window at the bottom. IF all went well, the waveform display would then be (deep breath) displaying the waveform.

    4. Repeated those steps for each track with a missing/broken waveform display.

    5. Very important... Chose 'Save As...' from File menubar and gave the concert a new name and put a check in the box below for 'Copy Playback samples into concert'.

I can't guarantee it will work for you but it worked for me after closing and re-opening a couple of times so I hope it sticks. I think the key was both establishing the connection between the Playback plugin and the waveform display at the Set level ...and saving the audio files into the concert itself.

I hope it helps, good luck all

    Sergio, is it still sticking?
