Q: my email account is empty every time I click on the mail icon

Every time I click on the mail icon I receive a message saying 'no mail' in my inbox on either of my email accounts (which both have quite a few emails, 1 being work) and then my email accounts have to download, and the app often crashes - how do I fix this?

    Hello GKeep,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

To start troubleshooting this issue where your Mail app is quitting unexpectedly,  I first suggest forcing the Mail app to close, and then restart your iPhone.

    1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps.
    2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
    3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

    1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
    2. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
    3. After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

If the Mail app continues to experience this issue, then next I suggest removing both of your email accounts from your settings, and then launching Mail to see if it works without the accounts added in.  Then add each account back in, one by one, testing after each one is added.

    1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    2. Tap the email account.
    3. Tap Delete Account.
    4. Add your account again.
