Q: Unsuccessful Upgrade from Panther to Leopard on a PowerPC G3 iBook
The Occurrence/Circumstance: I went to install OSX 10.5 Leopard on my 2002 iBook from my install disk, and It just kept rebooting to the login window and desktop, and would never startup with an install screen.
My Notes of the Install
- Selecting "Reboot" from the install window that popped up after inserting the disc, would never result in a reboot
- I performed a manual reboot and every time it would reboot to the login screen and desktop with no install taking place.
- I selected my startup disc as the DVD drive and that didn't work.
On the side panel of my OSX 10.5 Leopard product box, it reads "Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (9867MHz or faster processor)..." My iBook has a G3 processor (which is not mentioned on the box).
So, in conclusion, it must be the compatibility issue of my iBook having a G3 processor, and not one of the other types mentioned. Correct?
If not, any other thoughts as to how to get my iBook to reboot to a successful install window?

Correct, Mac OS X Leopard is not compatible with a Power PC G3 processor computer.
