Sep 30, 2015 10:10 AM in response to woodmeister50by 4bowmans,You said exactly what all of us are thinking! This was a big step backward. There really is no point to syncing now. I hope Apple is listening to someone and this gets changed!

Sep 30, 2015 8:00 PM in response to Gordon Hodgsonby Jerry Fornal,Well now, this is just ridiculous.
Here I am - on vacation - 1,050 miles away from my home computer where I've synced and backed-up my iPhone. I just spent over $1,000 on a new iPhone 6s, case and AppleCare only to find out that I can't sync my apps on my work laptop withough RE-DOWNLOADING every single one of them. Seriously Apple? What about the people using cellular data plans? What if I dropped my phone in the toilet overseas and need another working phone the next day? Not possible? I just want to transfer the apps I PURCHASED from my iPhone 5s - onto my work laptop - so that I can then re-sync everything with my new iPhone 6s.
This is pure and utter BS.
I only bought this thing away from home-base because I was traveling on launch day. Now here I am with a $1,000 paper-weight until I get back to Chicago.
I guess it's 2007 again...

Sep 30, 2015 9:47 PM in response to Gordon Hodgsonby webpoet73,Fascinating. I see why it had to be done, but ...
a) Could have listed that as a "feature"
b) If not a "feature", then somehow get the word out.
I wanted to get rid of the apps on my iMac iTunes library and have them transfer from iPhone and iPad, so I would know which ones I continue to use and thus stop downloading updates in iTunes for apps not used.
We can try and appeal to Apple, but instead, have to learn how to operate under the new rules....

Sep 30, 2015 10:51 PM in response to Gordon Hodgsonby indopete, same problem. apps updated on the phone don't transfer to my computer when i sync the phone.
as i live abroad and pay for data as i use it this is more than an inconvenience.
come on apple, get this fixed.

Oct 2, 2015 12:58 AM in response to Gordon Hodgsonby Snaked,I just spent an hour trying to figure out what was wrong here, iTunes wasn't copying my iPod Touch apps to my Windows 10 PC. After extensive google searches, trying different word combinations, I finally found this thread and discovered this is the intended behavior? This makes things more inconvenient, and I also wasted my time trying to figure it out! The fact that iTunes still has a "Transfer purchases from iPod Touch" menu option certainly didn't help. If they mean transfer music only, change the menu command description to specify that.
I guess I can delete all of the apps that have been previously synced to my PC now since they don't sync back and forth? I noticed they will sync from the PC to the iPod but I don't think that's of much use to me. I kept them on my PC as sort of a back up, but I'm not going to separately update the apps in both iTunes and iPod so now iTunes will always have an outdated version of each app.
This change makes no sense.

Oct 2, 2015 4:04 AM in response to Gordon Hodgsonby Dunan,I have the same problem. I was already frustrated. I did a clean install of El Capitan. Restored everything in the iPhone. Nothing helps. On the other device with iOS 8.x everything works. Drive Public Beta I tested there was a problem already there.

Oct 2, 2015 7:23 AM in response to Gordon Hodgsonby woodmeister50,Everyone make sure that you are voicing your concerns to:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
Perhaps if they get flooded with enough complaints the lazy programmers
will fix the app to work the way that the users want.

It did not "have to be done". It is simply software developers to lazy to
write proper code to continue working properly!!!!!!!!!

Oct 2, 2015 12:32 PM in response to woodmeister50by Applemaniac79,Thank you very much for your suggestion. I followed your advice and sent the feedback to Apple. It may not be useful but maybe if we ALL do it at the end someone will hear us. What surprises me the most is that I cannot read of this issue in any of the discussions of the various Apple Blogs on the web. It is like no one know or care of it. For me it is really a BIG issue!

Oct 2, 2015 4:49 PM in response to Applemaniac79by grampus1,IT appears that also we have to download our IOS as well to Itunes. It won't backup the OS any more?

Oct 3, 2015 5:22 PM in response to Jerry Fornalby DrakeShin,In the same boat. Just moved to Japan on launch day, and my brand new 6S Plus can't backup to iCloud, nor iTunes, and purchases won't transfer. Apple starting to become the new Android, and that saddens me.
I worked as a Genius in the Apple store from '08 to '14, and I've never seen a lapse in quality like I have since iOS 8. The fact that the firmware was released with such blatant bugs are worrying to me. Out of all of my troubleshooting, nothing has worked. Glad I jumped ship to GoPro when I did.
