Q: "iTunes could not sync notes to the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected"

I have a PC with Windows 10 x64, Outlook 2010, and iTunes 12.3.0.44; and an iPhone 6 with iOS 9.0.1 and the "upgraded" Notes app. When I try to sync I get "iTunes could not sync notes to the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected." I tried deleting all my Outlook and iPhones notes, reinstalling iTunes, and rebooting the PC and iPhone, but I still get the same error. I don't see any way to tell iTunes NOT to sync notes, so I don't even know how to workaround this problem short of reinstalling Outlook.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.0.1, iTunes 12.3.0.44

To be honest I don't think doing anything to Outlook is going to fix it. I've noticed this as well since the update of iTunes. I've reported the issue, but have not heard anything. For right now I just click OK on the link and ignore it, since there is no setting any longer in iTunes (as you already know). I suspect this will get changed sometime in the near future. I just hope they add the ability to sync back, rather than find a way to turn off the error message.

Just a little follow-up to what I posted here yesterday. Last night when I did a sync on my phone, I was watching the progress bar and noticed it said syncing notes, and then at the end, the error box came up as well. I checked my Outlook and found that the notes still matched on the phone and in Outlook. So I took a moment and created two new notes. One with just plain text, and one with a finger drawing as well. Both notes did sync, despite still receiving the warning, but the finger drawing did not sync. That could be what is prompting the error, so I'm going to try it later today when I get in from work. I'll post here again to let you know.

i found it had to do with the settings. i flipped between "new notes start with" settings, and settled on "title", which is how i like them. Unfortunately  Apple screwed up the format in both the phone and Outlook. So in outlook i rebuilt them the way i wanted,  deleted them all off the phone and tried another sync.

    worked perfectly.

I'm having the same problem. No matter what I do with iTunes settings, it just keeps failing with "iTunes could not sync notes to the iPhone [myphone] because the iPhone disconnected". It's not my hardware - I changed the USB cable, I changed USB Ports a couple of times, I rebooted the PC ... nada. This is a hard error with iTunes 12.3.0.44 and iOS9.0.2, and Apple Upgraded Notes.

You are not going to be able to fix it. The only solution that I have found is to remove the notes from Outlook. That seemed to work for me. I don't use Notes a great deal, but with the removal of the ability to sync notes any longer after the selection was removed from iTunes, to prevent that error popup, I had to remove the notes. I've tested a couple of things, including creating a Note in Outlook, and creating one on the Phone. Seems creating one on the phone allowed me to sync it to Outlook, but I cannot create one or modify one in Outlook and get it to sync with Outlook. I've provided feedback to Apple about this and suggest you do the same. http://www.apple.com/feedback
