The basic point here is that it appears there were known incompatibilities yet there was apparently no information given to users. We are not expecting Apple to test all 3rd party plugins. However, if there are known issues with popular plugins such as NI we would expect to be notified before having our logic sessions broken. Thanks.
Note: This is not a rant directly at Svbult but in general to the many users that I know will be posting here with simiolar issues and feelinsg...
There are at least two issues....
1) As I said, NI for example .. were fully aware of the issues with the software and hardware prior to the release of the final version of OS X 10.11 They did put a notice up on the site and their forums in response to these issues but didn't fully advertise the fact until the final version of 10.11 was actually released. Why not? Who knows..... makes no sense to me but that's what they did.
2) Apple cannot test everything and they don't know what does or does not work unless the 3rd party Devs or beta testers tell them.... Nor could they or do they know if the 3rd party devs have fixed updates available upon release because again, the 3rd party Devs don't tell them.
Its up to the 3rd party Devs to inform the public what does and doesn't work.... and if they don't, well... maybe thats something that perspective buyers should consider in the future...
More importantly.. It's also up to the end user to check for themselves before upgrading... It's the end user's responsibility.
As Pancenter stated earlier.... Anyone with an ounce of knowledge about computers should know that any OS should not be updated until they have fully verified themselves if any of their 3rd party software or hardware works with the new upgrade or update. Until they have done so.. don't update or upgrade!!
All users should also make sure they have made full solid backlups prior to any updates so they can roll back to their previous configuration if any problems ensue after an update.
It's just plain common sense.. which sadly, many users don't appear to have or use.
Blaming Apple.. is just an excuse for the end user's lack of common sense imho...
This is why I have been posting here warnings..... over the last few days and it's why there is a User Tip that I made almost a year ago.. regarding this very subject.. that people just don't read or choose to ignore...
and specifically...
Latest OS X & Logic Pro Compatibility Information
and,,,
El Capitan 10.11 Compatibility information
The info is out there.. Users just don't bother to check first and instead charge ahead and then complain afterwards because they lack common sense and don't wish to take responsibility for their own actions!
Ignorance is not an excuse.....
Ok.. enough ranting....
Cheers.

Oct 1, 2015 11:01 PM in response to Svbulltby Scorpii,I received an email from NI and Arturia warning that El C was not compatible with their plugins, and both companies were working on a fix in conjunction with Apple.
I also posted the Arturia warning on this forum.
Waves also puts a notice on their download page stating if an OS is supported. Nothing there yet re El C. So, Waves plugins may also fail validation.

Scorpii

Oct 1, 2015 11:45 PM in response to Svbulltby Pancenter,Also,
What's this intense need to upgrade to the newest and latest if there's no benefit (or worse) to the applications you're using? What audio/MIDI improvements are there in the latest OS, what does the latest OS have that you specifically need?
The only thing I've seen constant upgrading do is make your current hardware obsolete! hmmmm...... :-/

Oct 2, 2015 5:08 AM in response to The Art Of Soundby Frank Patten,Does anyone know if this AU validation is a Logic X only problem? Example, if I use Cubase or Reaper without my AU plugs, will that be an issue?

Oct 2, 2015 6:18 AM in response to Frank Pattenby Svbullt,Here's a suggested fix for iZotope plugins.
Apparently this issue is not isolated to just a few 3rd party plugins in Logic only - also Final Cut. So far it looks like it impacts all of the Native Instruments plugins, Arturia, and iZotope plugins which I can confirm from my own experience. I also ran into issues with some of my UA plugins. I have since rolled back to OS X 10.10.5. One would expect a bit more from Apple on this. These are "Professional Applications".
Regarding Cubase... "As of today, Steinberg (Cubase, Nuendo, Wavelab), EastWest (Play), Avid (Pro Tools), Slate Digital, Gobbler and others are advising customers to stay put on Yosemite"

Why?

Oct 2, 2015 7:41 AM in response to The Art Of Soundby BenB,Be aware that Logic Pro X has its own issues with OS X 10.11, apart from 3rd party products. I was running dev beta of OS X 10.11 from the start, and LPX began having issues, and NI (and others) products began crashing the "auvaltool" the second to last dev beta update. The two known OS X 10.11 problem areas are Core Image and "auvaltool". So I'd wait for an OS X 10.11.1 update to fix those two, which must be done before any 3rd party add-ons will work properly. And those third parties need to update their stuff, too. Audio Units get validated and handled in a slightly in a different manner than they used to.
