Q: why won't siri answer when i say hey siri?

After updating to 9.0, i don't hear the ding when holding down the home button. Also, they say with the 6s plus you should be able to say "Hey Siri" and she answers. Well she doesn't!

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 9.0.2

Use Siri on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If you have an iPhone 6 Plus it won't work unless plugged in. It can work on a 6s Plus but needs to be enabled.

Not sure what you have since your post says 6s Plus and your device listing is a regular 6 Plus.

This article also clarifies that Siri only vibrates in iOS 9 unless you have headphones in.

    Hope this helps

Sorry it is just the 6 Plus. I don't even get the ding when I hold down the home button either. I do get the ding on my iPad 3 though???

Well iPads don't vibrate so they have to ding. And sadly there is no option to change from vibrate to ding on the iPhones. I don't know why Apple didn't make this an optional feature but that's just how it goes. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

And your phone can do "Hey Siri," but it has to be plugged in. Another option I don't understand. Personally, I love that the phone doesn't ding anymore. I would crouch to pick something up at my job and Siri would go off in my pocket! "I'm sorry, I didn't quite get that..."

Hey Siri has been changed in the 6s Plus (and 6s) because the software necessary to hear you say "Hey, Siri" now runs in firmware consuming a trace amount of power. On the previous phones this requires an app to be running that uses processor time and would therefore reduce battery life.
