Q: Can't download and proceed OS X El Capitan installation

Hi there.

Yesterday and today I've been trying to install the new OS X - but without luck.

My App Store will not proceed the download of El capitan. What to do?

    Hello fewcastle,

I understand you have been trying to get El Capitan for the last two days but it doesn't seem to be downloading.

What happens when you try to download it?  Are you getting any error messages?

Are you following the steps in

Upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support

Note if it did download the installer would be in the Applications folder.

    There's also some suggestions in

Troubleshooting the Mac App Store - Apple Support

Please look under, "If nothing happens after clicking Buy when purchasing an app" which seems to be what you are seeing.

    Take care.

I have the same issue as well (i think).

I go to the app store and click on free update (El Capitan). I'm asked for my login credentials but nothing happens afterwards. The update button is greyed out and on the top left corner there is a  "well" spinning.

It doesn't download or do anything else after that.

I started downloading El Capitan on the 30th but realised that it was taking too long and paused it overnight. In the morning, I completed the download but the download was deemed damaged or tampered with and I was told to delete it. El Capitan is no longer available in Software Update but I seem to have the new Safari. I have a Macbook late 2009, so maybe that is all I can get from the Upgrade.
