    Hi generic5031,

I see that you're trying to find the icon for the secondary hard drive you have installed in your Mac Pro.  Have you looked in Disk Utility to see if it's being recognized?

Disk Utility overview - Disk Utility Help

Another good place to look if it's being recognized by the system is by using the System Information, and looking in the "Storage" section:

OS X: About System Information and System Profiler - Apple Support

Please let me know your findings!

    Hey alex_h1,

Yes I have checked the disk utility overview and it is not being recognized. I have also checked the storage section under system information and it is not being recognized there either.  however minutes before updating I was accessing the drive with no issues, which is why i have reached out to this forum for possible assistance.

Thank you for making sure i start at the basics though.

    any other suggestions?

    Hey there generic5031,

Thanks for that information.  Given that it's not appearing in System Information nor in Disk Utility, then there might be a hardware issue with the drive.  I suggest that you get in contact with another one of our support channels by using the link below.

Apple - Support - Product Selection

    Take care.

So today after opening iTunes it prompted me to update my expired credit card info for iTunes and immediately after updating that info my secondary hard drive arrived back on my desktop. i don't know why that was necessary to access my hard drive. So now I'm curious as to why that would be the case? thank you again for your input so far
