Q: iPhone 6s to iMac mid 2011 Airdrop compatibility ?

I have looked at support pages and threads here and Reddit and still cannot find the answer.

Is my mid 2011 imac able to be sent data from my iPhone 6s ?

Support page says I should be able to receive I think ?

At the moment I open airdrop but underneath the radar icon, there are no discovery options, nothing at all ? I have both wifi and bluetooth on both devices switched to on.

I have checked firewall settings, and they should be correct. I'm confused as to why I don't have the blue options under the radar ?

To share content with AirDrop, both people need one of these devices using iOS 7 or later, or a Mac with OS X Yosemite:

Well now I'm confused, Niel says it is not possible and Carolyn's link says it should as I am running the lastest update of Yosemite ?

Still curious as to why I have no sharing options under the radar icon ?

AirDrop system requirements
To send items to an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you need a 2012 or newer Mac model with OS X Yosemite or later, excluding the Mac Pro (Mid 2012).
To send items to another Mac, you need:
MacBook Pro (Late 2008) or newer, excluding the MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2008)
MacBook Air (Late 2010) or newer
MacBook (Late 2008) or newer, excluding the white MacBook (Late 2008)
iMac (Early 2009) or newer
Mac Mini (Mid 2010) or newer
Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)

This still confuses me though as it seems to suggest my imac 2011 is fine.

Ok thank you Niel.

Would the preferences for sharing show up if a compatible (another mac) device was available.

Or is this a separate anomaly ?
