Q: Safari app iOS Start/Home page vs OS X ?

I was researching the possibility of setting a start or home page in Safari on iPads used in a workplace environment. The users have found it difficult to adjust to having desktop browsers function differntlly from tablets. The information provided at Apple Support search is only relavent for Safari for OS X. I wanted to know about Safari for IOS. Just why is it necessary for there to be differnt functioality within apps for the respective platforms? Don't the respective design teams collaborate?

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10)

The iOS Safari app feature that allows setting of given webpage via "Add to Home Screen" has not proven to be a satisfactory solution. We use a Medical cloud based EHR which assigns users to an appropriate data server upon login. If the user does not logout, then the browser attempts to acces the last data sever or page being used when shutdown. This may perpaps be a shortcoming in the desigh of the cloud based EHR program. It would be nice, if after quiting the app or sleep mode, the EHR program would redirect to it's login page.

I wanted to edit my original post, but settled on a reply to provide further clarification. Any thoughts on this subject would be appreciated!

    some background:

Login and Logout seems to be a problematic.  It sure is for these forums.  These forums have multi-year issues with login & Logout.  These forums have a time-last-active stored in a cookie.  When the server detects time-last-active greater than thirty minutes, you get logged out. In these forums, if you reboot your computer and get back into the forums in thirty minutes, the server software does not notice you have gone. [ firefox 41.0.1 w/ 10.10.4 ]

In IOS, applications do not quit.  The only way to quit an app:

      1) double click then swap up the app

      2) a forced re-boot

I do not know how other servers handle the problem.  Should explore around with amazon, paypal, and ebay.

You are not talking to apple here. We are users like you.

You should try posting your question to a developer forum and see how other servers handle the login & logout situation.

Try one of the http://stackoverflow.com/ forums.  Put you tin hat on.

You have missed the simplicity of my point and inquiry. Also, this issue was posted first to Apple Support. So my comment about collaboration was not directed to the discussion group, just ragging about Apple!

I'm simply trying to improve our user productivity and minimize the amount of time I spend correcting staff who call and say "My iPad is not working. I can't get what I want to do accomplished."
