Oct 3, 2015 9:09 PM in response to dwayne00by Jeff,Why do you want to take a step backward, in terms of the hardware that you use? Is the software that you primarily use for your music work designed to run on a PowerPC processor-based Mac? If not, I don't see the point of purchasing it, since you have a better processor (Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.06 GHz) in the iMac that you currently own. The G5s were the last generation of PowerPC processors and certainly aren't as good as the Core 2 Duo series.

Oct 4, 2015 1:46 PM in response to dwayne00by Allan Jones,★HelpfulHere are performance scores for those models as posted in the MacTracker database:
The 3.06 iMac beats the 1.8 G5 by nearly a factor of three (score for a 27-inch iMac with the 3.06 is the same).
The Mactracker database is a great tool for comparisons like you seek, and is free. You can get it in the App store:

or from the delvoper's web site:

Oct 4, 2015 1:49 PM in response to dwayne00by dwayne00,Thanks guys, I kind of thought that the one I have is faster. The thing is I may need a faster computer than what I have now. I know that the processors can not be upgraded.

Oct 5, 2015 1:56 PM in response to dwayne00by LukesQueriesOnMacAndiOS,Why would you downgrade from an Intel Mac to a PowerPC Mac? Basically no software supports PowerPC Macs anymore.
