Oct 2, 2015 9:02 PM in response to SasankaDby Schroederius2,Same problem. iOS 9.0.1, iPhone 6+ 128GB. Touchscreen completely ignores all touches. Can only resolve by forced reboot. Started having problems for me after 9.0.1 upgrade. I'm trying 9.0.2, but without much hope. If this continues, I will try the 9.1 beta - would rather have software that is not necessarily stable than software that is stable and reliably freezes the touchscreen. I will also sync a bluetooth headset to my phone tomorrow, hoping that will at least be able to answer calls and such!

Oct 3, 2015 12:23 AM in response to beeccccaby jorunT,I find it somewhat strange that there is very little respons from anybody from Apple saying that they are doing something to solve this problem, it is of course nice to be told how to make a hard restart when everything freezes, but that's hardly the final solution, I hope.

Oct 3, 2015 7:51 AM in response to jorunTby Schroederius2,Perhaps I'm part of the problem in some ways: To conserve battery, I've made LOTS of changes, including turning off Diagnostics & Usage info. I've turned that on now, on the off chance that Apple will see my phone amongst all the others that are having this problem. Seems like a good idea - if everyone else complaining about this problem also has diagnostics turned off, maybe Apple doesn't really have evidence of the issue. Who knows? Maybe turning diagnostics on will fix the problem!
By the way, the issue is so frustrating because I can't even unlock the phone reliably without the touchscreen working. My touchID has always been unreliable. I won't be surprised if I have trouble upgrading to a version that fixes this, since installing an update requires interacting with the touchscreen. If Apple can't fix this problem on my phone, I may need to take advantage of Applecare and get a replacement phone. But, from what I've heard, I'm not convinced that a replacement won't have the problem once I restore from my backup. And I really would prefer not to start from scratch.
My wife has exactly the same phone, and she doesn't have this problem, so there's SOMETHING about the way this phone is configured. Wish I knew what it was! If it were a simple setting, such as the Switch Control, Assistive Touch, or Touch Accomodations settings, I would change those in a heartbeat! Is it possible that Apple added a battery-saving setting that turns off the screen touch detection, that's controlled somewhere that we have access to? Are there any preferences that anyone knows about to manage touchscreen sensitivity?

Oct 4, 2015 1:50 PM in response to beeccccaby gabberattack,Same problem here, two iPhones 5S, 32 GB on T-Mobile. Screen is unresponsive at times, unlocking or turning off is impossible sometimes and requires hard reset. After hard reset it works for a while but intermittent responsiveness, it seems like touchscreen is not processing inputs or processing them very slow, sometimes I have to wait few seconds for an app to open, it used to be instant before. There were no problems with iOS 8. I have sharing of diagnostics turned on all the times.

Oct 5, 2015 5:51 AM in response to beeccccaby pearlgrey,I'm almost relieved to find that others are having the same issue as I am! I mean, this is terribly inconvenient and I'm so frustrated that this is happening, but I'm glad to know it's most likely a software issue rather a hardware one from the descriptions of the problems here... I am experiencing the exact same thing!
I've done soft resets, factory resets...everything that the Apple Support people has suggested over the online chat service. But none has worked so far and I've even considered flying to a nearby country that will service my phone since where I am now will probably not do it even though I am still under the "warranty".
Please fix this bug soon, Apple! Otherwise please do not place that annoying red flag when the newest iOS is available, when it clearly is not ready for people to use yet.

Oct 6, 2015 7:32 AM in response to Jiro Sanby jack_reacher,Same Issue for my iPhone 5s iOS 9.0.2
Every few days the screen goes unresponsive. Only way out is to restart using home + top button.
This has happened since 9.0. A complete reset/re-install didn't help either.
Hurry up with 9.1 please Apple.

Oct 6, 2015 9:39 AM in response to Schroederius2by jorunT,I haven't really made that many changes in the settings, but I'm following your advice and I have turned on Diagnostics & Usage info. I wonder why my husband's iPhone 5s works (except he thinks it's more sluggish than before), there must be something those of us having problems must have in common, but what? Nobody from Apple has given us any advice, except how to make a hard restart, but does not solve the recurring problems. It would have been so nice if someone from Apple gave a sign of life and an indication that they are aware of the problem and that they doing something.
