Q: Messages no longer sending/receiving SMS
A few updates back (it was one of the Yosemite incremental updates) my Messages app (on my Retina iMac) lost the capability to send or receive SMS messages (you know, the green kind). My phone number is setup in the Account prefs and I receive iMessages (the blue kind) on my iMac just fine. But anyone I try to send a regular SMS to it no longer sends.
I upgraded the iMac this weekend to El Capitan in hopes it'd correct itself. But no such luck as I received a message from someone via SMS on my phone earlier today and it didn't show up in Messages on my Mac.
Any thoughts?

Community Specialists
Hello Project 2501,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like Messages on your Mac stopped receiving SMS messages from your iPhone, but you're still receiving iMessages.
First, re-try the Text Message Forwarding set up from Use Continuity to connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac:
- Sign in to iMessage on your iPhone, your other iOS devices, and your Mac using the same Apple ID.
- On your iPhone: Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By, and add a check to both your phone number and email address. Then, go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and enable the device(s) you would like to forward messages to.
- Your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch will display a code. Enter this code on your iPhone to verify the SMS feature.
Sincerely.
