Q: Safari after iOS 9, getting redirection websites not cleared by clearing history

Safari iOS 9, getting redirection to "bytemobile.com", "apple-gifts.com", ",mobilerewardzone.space".  Sites do not allow any icon to be used.  Have to delete Safari and clear browsing history.  Sites reappear after short browsing time.  Appears to be virus I cannot delete.  Do we have an anti-virus program yet for IOS 9.  Same problem on iPad or iPhone.

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.0.2, iPad 3rd Gen

I am experiencing the same issues on 3 devices.

    Unsuccessful steps taken thus far:

    -force quitting

    -clearing cookies & browsing history

Frank, did you visit the drudge report?  I am trying to determine what website caused this and that is my latest guess--perhaps corrupt advertising on the website?

My wife's iPad is experiencing the same issue. There are no quality virus scans for iPad that I can find. This is very frustrating. It started with iOs9. I am hoping that Apple will here our pleas and fix this soon. I have perused the web and we aren't the only victims. Our iPhones and my MacBook Pro have not been victimized yet. I rebooted and it was gone for a while.

I am having this same issue and yes, I went to drudge as well.  I've tried everything to get rid of it but have been unsuccessful.

The site that is hanging mine up right now is mobilerewardzone.space

Come on Apple -- help us out.

Tried the drudge report on an old iPhone and the issue did not occur.  Then again, drudge report could have fixed the issue.  In any event, not sure what the cause is or the solution at this point.

I'm having the same problem.  Getting the mobilerewardzone.space redirect ... only  when I go to Drudge Report.

To all, spent 2 hours with Apple Support because of problems across multiple iOS devices.  Problem isolated to Drudge Report itself.

New updates at Drudge since 9/17/15 have created many problems.  At this point I have take Drudge off my favorites until Matt makes a declaration he has fixed the site.

I'm also being subjected to this exploit on my iPad Air2 and do frequent drudge as well. I've noted that disabling JavaScript appears to kill the exploit but that is far too draconian to live with.

Revisiting Drudge immediately triggered the exploit, but there are others, such as ancestry.com and Find A Grave, that are also reliably susceptible.

I have opened a case with Apple on this as well.

If you have a newer iOS device that supports them, and have iOS 9 installed, the solution is to begin using an Ad Blocking app in conjunction with Safari.  Ad Blockers like "Purify" are now the most popular App Store downloads for this reason.  Ad networks have become so aggressive with their tactics that it's become impossible to use many websites safely without an Ad Blocker.

In addition to using an ad blocker, make sure to contact support for the website(s) that are using such aggressing advertising networks and let them know that you will no longer visit their website until they stop putting their visitors at risk for exploits from ad networks.

I have not yet upgraded my iPhone to IOS9, yet began having this popup issue a few days ago on Safari after visiting not only drudge and foxnews but other sites as well. Once the popups occurred, they started showing up on any random site I am visiting.

The quickest, but not convenient, way I have found to get out of the popup screen without pressing the popup's  "OK" button is:

    1) exit Safari,

    2) go to Settings and turn on Airplane Mode,

    3) wait at least one minute before opening Safari again,

    4) immediately click the right bottom "minimize window" icon and then click the top left "exit window" button.

NOTE: If waiting one minute in step 3 does not work, click the Home button and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the reboot occurs, and then go to step 2 above and follow.

    Good luck.

"i downloaded PURIFY and this has fixed the problem"

For the record, I installed Purify on my iPad Air2 but the exploit is still being triggered at drudge and at Findagrave.com.
