Oct 9, 2015 11:05 PM in response to Gail MAby Roger Brooks,Same here. iTunes is all but dead. Can't log in, can't purchase music or anything, can't update apps. iTunes is now useless under El Capitan. Tried resetting the password, tried restarting the computer a number of times. Nothing works. Anyone able to get iTunes working again?

Oct 13, 2015 4:44 AM in response to Gail MAby Travel girl 301,I usually don't update this early to give the company time to fix any bugs. My iPhone is running on iOS 8.4, and I just "updated" to that version last month! I am still holding back on installing 9.0. However, this time, my brother insisted that I should update to El Capitan. He already did on the iMac desktop that we share, so I went ahead and put it on my Macbook Pro laptop. Now, I can't use iCloud on either computer. I even changed my password and it works fine on my iPhone, but not on the computers running El Capitan.
I would go back to Yosemite except that I'm already finding the side-by-side feature in El Capitan very useful for productivity. My iTunes is working fine, I am able to log in and playback my music and purchase new music just like before the update.
Has anyone else been able to find a fix for this issue since the original post?

Oct 13, 2015 6:37 AM in response to Gail MAby deafdog,I saw this behavior too. I disabled my antivirus, and then tried to log in to iTunes. I was able to log in. I enabled my antivirus afterward, and everything has been fine since.

Oct 25, 2015 6:27 AM in response to Gail MAby choo ,me too!
The fact is that I've downloaded the recently released OS X El Capitan and completing installation went just fine, but my problems started when Mac asked me to put in my iCloud login info and put it, and login went on forever and woudn't end, it lasted for like more than 15 minutes. Any suggestion?

Oct 25, 2015 6:46 AM in response to Gail MAby gfxguru, same here also, gets an infinite spinner when trying to sign in to Appstore or iTunes. I have the Serial Number intact. Tried most of the methods seen in other posts. I was able to install system updates without login. But unable to download any other apps from appstore. Hope Apple will see to this.

Jan 31, 2016 10:03 AM in response to awaisthegeniusby iOS_Nerd,*BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE!* Awa, you is the genius! I checked about 2 hours worth of searching and reading online. For some reason people kept reposting the same "Serial Number Missing" issue, but I had a valid serial. I reset pram, deleted plists, did everything I could find and STILL was hung up on app store login. But your solution actually worked!
I'm a programmer, and couldn't update xcode on my home MBP rendering me useless. Thank you so much for posting this.
In hindsight, Apple should stop releasing things that aren't ready. I can't help but think that Tim Cook is attempting to show the world he's as good as Steve by releasing a bunch of products, but it's not working because so far everything has issues.
