Q: What would be the maximum RAM memoroy support for Macbook Late 2009 model?

I have been using a Macbook Late 2009 model with 2 GB RAM for the past 6 years. Recently, I have installed OS X El Capitan. However, I feel the performance can be enhanced in case the RAM is upgraded into 4 GB or 8 GB. I would like to know how much memory this model supports.

Thank you for your answers!

A late 2009 Macbook (model identifier 6.1) will support 8 GB RAM.  The best sources for Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.

I have installed El Capitan in this system with 2 GB RAM. However, the performance has gone down when I use Firefox or Safari.

Is there any one who has installed El Capitan with 2 GB RAM or 8 GB RAM? I would like to know your El Capitan experience in this laptop!

I have not down loaded El Capitan yet, but based on my observations with Yosemite, 4 GB RAM is the practical minimum and 8 GB RAM is preferred.  If the bank account is fat, consider installing a SSD which will increase performance noticeably.  (Avoid Samsung at this time.  Too many problems with Macs.)

    Ciao.
