Q: Bluetooth audio lag os x el capitan

After updating from Yosemite to El Capitan the bluetooth head is extremely laggy! The sound is in sync but disappears every now and then and sometimes the bluetooth connection is dropping and tries to reconnect.

When the audio lags, the wifi mouse often lags too.

In some programs, for example Sketchup, you can´t work with it in fullscreen and split screen for it´s suddenly shifts to another window (first desk).

Have tried various solutions but nothing helps?

Trying this forum as a last resort. Then it is back to Yosemite!

Regards /Johan

My headset is a Pioneer BT SE-MJ561BT and worked fine in Yosemite, iPhone, iPad.

I had boot camp with win8.1 but now I tried to clean install El Capitan, the bluetooth audio lag continues. Then I tried to get rid of win8.1 partition so now my SSD is completely clean and the audio lag continues

I have searched the web for my headset update but there aren´t any.

I have tried all I can find on the web and have this thread in 3 places over different forums. I must be unique with this problem?!

There was a common problem with bluetooth audio lag in early Yosemite but not after a couple of updates. Now this seems to start all over with El Capitan. That shows that you are best to wait after a new OS is available.

I'm experiencing the same issue. With Yosemite the bluetooth audio worked just fine.

    I'm using:

    • rMBP 15" mid 2014 (Bluetooth 4.0)
    • OS X El Capitan 10.11
    • BT Headphones - Parrot Zik v1.10
    • Apple Magic Mouse

Like Obalei when the audio lags the mouse lags as well.

    Any solution for this ?

Edit: After turning off Bluetooth on rMBP and turning on again the problem is gone. Hope this helps others as well.

Great to hear it´s not just me

My bluetooth speaker works fine. Seems to be just my headset. I have boot camp win 8.1 and my headset lagging there to.

Turning the bluetooth off and on in OS just works for a little while.

    Same here.

Bose Soundlink On-Ear, Magic Mouse, Apple Keyboard on MBP 15" '13.

Under Yosemite the configuration worked just fine. Since El Capitan it is horrible. Listening/watching to Music/Video just not possible due to lag + heavy mouse lag.

    Apple, please do something!

Same issues on my MBP 15" mid 2010 with El Capitan.

There is interference between the BT mouse and the BT audio receiver. When I connect the mouse the sound becomes intermittent, sometimes it works, very often not.

I had the same issue with Yosemite, SOLVED with the first upgrade. Now the problem is back with El Capitan.

I had to give up the "magic mouse" because, with graphics programs, as soon as I touch the surface of the mouse the image moves or zooms (can I use a mouse without touching it?). Now I have to choose between using the mouse or remote speakers.

I'm really annoyed by Apple in the last, let say, two years.

    Logitech mouse M557

Same problem on my MBP (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) with 10.11.1.

I'm using an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard & Trackpad without any problems.

Everytime I connect to my August EP650 Headphones my MBP goes crazy and also loses connection to keyboard and/ or trackpad.

I eleventh the problem: immediately after upgrading to 10.11 any of my 3 bluetooth headphones sound like they're in a blender. I haven't tried troubleshooting yet.

I have a probably related problem.  I a Mac Pro, Magic Mouse and Bose SoundDock 10 connected by Bluetooth.  I do not have issues with lagging audio but experience the following:

If the SoundDock is on and connected but I am NOT  playing music, the mouse movement is spasmodic and basically unusable.  Switching the Sounddock off gives me control over the mouse again.

If the SoundDock is on and playing music, everything appears to be fine until a period of time after the music stops.

If the SoundDock is off, there are no issues with the mouse.

    Same issue with this pair:

    • Magic Mouse 2
    • JBL Flip 3

To make the JBL works, I have to disconnect Magic Mouse 2.

BTW, same issue when AirPlay'ing from Mac to Apple TV Gen 4.

I just had the same issue with my WavemasterCube speakers.

What solved it was un-pairing all BT-devices with the small "x" at the right side of the bluetooth system-control applet, but be sure to have some other pointing device connected! Then I freshly paired all three devices (Apple keyboard and mouse and the speakers) again and the choppiness is gone.
