Oct 8, 2015 5:42 AM in response to saint nickby kb1951,5 GB of 'other' is too much. Normally it should be less than 2 GB. This usually indicates corrupted data. Back it up, then restore it, and then reload the backup. This is how I reduce the large amount of 'other' on my devices. I should add that the restore will install the latest iOS version.

Oct 8, 2015 5:50 AM in response to kb1951by saint nick,thanks for that; I am backing up to laptop as per normal but- the backup appears to have stalled at the end of 'syncing step 2 from 4' . The little wheel is spinning in iTunes and on the phone but nothing else seems to happening...

Oct 9, 2015 8:52 AM in response to saint nickby saint nick,update- problem now solved (at least for now....) as per here How do I get rid of "other" storage ie it was the 9.0.2 upgrade that had downloaded itself but not been activated by me - once actually installed I am back to 2.5GB...as I say - for now...
