Have you re-input the preferences for each mail account in Mail - Preferences? You may have a corrupt preference that i causing a problem.

I Have. I've spent all day so far and getting nowhere fast. Both my iMac and MacBook affected since the upgrade. Can access gmail, but btinternet is dead. Resorted to deleting accounts and trying to resinstall.

annoyed that this appears to be known problem and apple are doing nothing about it. Lost a lot of work today and I moved from Windows to Apple to get away from these sort of issues.

    still no go...

First this is not a widespread issue that is a "known problem and apple", there may be a few occurrences of it but it's anything but widespread. All you have told me in this past post that is useful is you deleted the accounted an are attempting to re-install, however that wasn't even useful as you didn't specify what accounts, your users accounts or  your mail accounts?

If you really want some assistance please quite the whining, we know you are frustrated  I, like all posters on these forums are volunteer end users just like you. So if you can keep it on topic then we may be able to help you.

First off, it is a widespread problem. the web is full of people having trouble with email using el capitan. secondly, i said I was having issues with yahoo email on el capitan, on iMac and macbook post the upgrade. thirdly I gave the symbol alongside what was happening. fourthly I am not a sysprog, but an end user and have given info that I see as being in line as what I see as the problem. all I have posted is "on topic", try reading it instead of trying to score points.

So, with an attitude like yours I would give up volunteering, because that patronising, '' know better than you', gets right up peoples nose and quite frankly I can do without that sort of help.

So to conclude, you clearly don't know, but are a good rabble rouser, but a fine waste of time.

Cherrio know-all and go 'volunteer' elsewhere.

Still having trouble reading the posts I see. Read carefully, you were dismissed. unfit for purpose. So less of the "I'm done with you".

LEarn something... When people ask for help, they do not ask for abuse or belittlement. Unbelievable.
