Q: Airdrop not working on El Capitan

Does anyone know how to get airdrop working on OS X El Capitan, I used to have the issue intermittently on Yosemite but since upgrading I haven't been able to transfer files via Airdrop to my iPhone 5 or 6S.

When I select Airdrop in a Finder window my phone just doesn't appear!!!

Can anyone help?

To be honest I'm sick and tired of this problem. AirDrop has never worked well fluently ever since it was introduced. I'm always having problems sending or receiving files between iPhone and Mac or Mac and Mac. Either there's something wrong with the Bluetooth so I have to reset the PRAM or and iOS or OS X update causing it not to work. But always there's a problem.

As I type, airdrop isn't working currently between my MacBook Pro and my iPhone 5s. Both running the latest versions of their systems. My iPhone won't show up on finder even after being visible to everyone, and turning on both Bluetooth and wifi. Annoying!

Before the el Capitan update I had no problem using Air Drop between my iMac and iPad. Now it only works occasionally. I spent two hours online and on the phone with Apple support trying different things with no success. The person I spoke with said he is taking the issue to the engineers and will get back to me but it is likely I will have to wait until there is an update to fix the issue.

Just wanted to confirm I have been told twice by apple support that airdrop link to phones will be fixed on the next update - they just can't advise when.

    cheers

Same problem here. My Macbook Pro Retina 13inch (mid 2014) running El Capitan and my iPhone 6 (iOS 9.0.2) simply can't find each other. Between iPhones and iPads, it works fine, but my Macbook can't find or be found by any other devices. That's why I'm pretty sure it's an El Capitan issue.

I've reached for Apple Support in Brazil and I was told to restore both. I did and it didn't change anything.
