Q: Downloading Music

I recently switched to Apple Music....everything went well...then I tried to download the music to the device (iPhone 4s IOS 9.0.2,) that did not go well and after numerous attempts I found that the only way to download to the device is one song at a time.  Am I doing something wrong?  Surely there is a more convenient way of downloading music.

iPhone 4S, iOS 9.0.2

    Howdy sam614,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

I see from your post that you're trying to make music available offline from Apple Music.  As you found out you can make single songs available offline, but also entire albums and playlists.  For help with this process I suggest that you follow through the steps outlined below.

Save songs, albums, and playlists to listen offline

You can save songs, albums, or playlists to listen to when you're not connected to the Internet.* You must save songs, albums, or playlists on each device that you want to use for offline listening.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

    1. In the Music app, find the item that you want to save.
    2. Tap the More Options icon to the right of the song, album, or playlist name.
    3. Tap Make Available Offline.

Songs and albums appear under My Music > Library. Playlists appear under My Music > Playlists.

    On your Mac or PC:

    1. In iTunes, find the item that you want to save in the My Music or Playlists tab. You can't save items to listen to offline from the iTunes Store.
    2. Click the cloud icon to the right of the song's name, on the album cover, or to the right of the playlist's name.

Songs and albums appear under the My Music tab. Playlists appear in the Playlists tab, under Apple Music Playlists in the sidebar.

You can view just songs, albums, playlists that you saved for offline listening:

    • iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: In the My Music tab, tap Library. Then tap any of the different views (Artists, Albums, etc.), and enable Music Available Offline.
    • Mac: In iTunes, from the menu bar at the top of your computer screen, choose View > Only Music Available Offline.
    • Windows: Press Control + B on your keyboard to open the iTunes menu bar. Choose View > Only Music Available Offline.

Add music from the Apple Music catalog to your library - Apple Support

    Have a good one.

Thank you for your suggestions and advise; however, I have followed your instructions and cannot  "Make Available Offline" as an album.  I must download each song individually.  Any advise?

    Hi sam614,

What happens when you follow the steps I mentioned in my first reply?  Specifically:

    1. In the Music app, find the item that you want to save.
    2. Tap the More Options icon   to the right of the song, album, or playlist name.
    3. Tap Make Available Offline.

If you want to make an entire album offline, then you need to tap the "..." next to an album and make that available offline.

    Take care.

Ok, thank you for your patience.  Specifically, here is the steps I followed:

    1) Downloaded Four(4) separate albums to a playlist I created named "Sinatra" then in the playlist I deleted songs I did not want from various albums.

    2) Clicked on the "..." on the right of the screen.....just above the list of songs

    3) Clicked on the "Make Available Offline"

    4) It does not appear that the playlist (songs) downloaded because the phone icon does not appear to the right of the song

Could it be that I am not allowing enough time for the songs to be downloaded?

While I have your attention, another issue:

I accidentally downloaded songs on my new iPhone (6s), following the above steps. However, when it wouldn't save offline, I saved each song offline individually.  When I realized my mistake, I tapped "..." and then tapped "remove download".  However, the "remove download" was unsuccessful as the phone icon continues to appear to the right of all songs.  I was only able to remove downloaded songs individually. By the way, when I tap "..." above the songs, the screen shows "make available offline". Am I doing something wrong?
