Q: I have the first ipad out how do I update it to get the current applications.

Hi You can install the latest compatible version of the app using the instructions given by Apple. You need to open the App Store, hit the Purchased tab and then tap on Download. You will get a message telling whether the compatible version is available.

You cannot update the iPad 1 to anything higher than iOS 5.1.1. If you are already at that version, you can update iOS no further.
