Q: Is anyone else experiencing decreased battery life since installing El Capitan?

Upgraded my 2015 MB 12" 1.3Ghz to El Capitan 10.11 two days ago and have noticed a significant drop in battery life. Is anyone else experiencing this?

MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11), 2015 MB 12" Retina 1.3Ghz Core M

Thanks and yes, I've been observing the Activity Monitor and there aren't any abnormal kernel tasks etc that are sucking excess energy.

Bottomline, with two days of normal usage, the battery is definitely draining faster.

I'm having the same issue, super frustrating. I used to get hours on a batter and now I get 2.5.

I checked the Activity Monitor (I'm new to this, so not sure I'm looking at it correctly). I did notice that I have 'root' user a lot, is this okay? I read the root user help and I'm not sure. I can see that kernel_task is running and is usually in the top 3 of the usage in CPU, memory, disk, network.

I have a Macbook Pro late 2011. I upgraded to El Capitan from Yosemite. I was experiencing around 3 to 4 hours battery life on Yosemite. I am still experiencing probably the same battery life. This is truly not acceptable since the specs say up to 6 hours. I was using Chrome, which was a battery hog. Chrome just recently modified their browser to be more efficient on the mac. I don't think so. I started using Safari on El Capitan. Well, same battery life using Safari and Chrome.

Apple needs to really step up to the plate and figure out why this is a problem on my mac. I spent a lot of money of this unit and I really don't want to spend a lot of my time figuring out why battery life is SO POOR.

So, Apple what do you say. Can you fix my battery life problem without using rhetoric to say things my macbook pro is older or everything runs fine on my mac?

My wife's chrome book 2012 has almost no problems.

    Les.
