Q: iPad 2 infected with malware

Hello All:

The inevitable happened: our 2nd gen iPad. We hit a link that put malware onto the iPad. We're using iOS 7.x.x.  I know how to get rid of it on our mbps but never have seen it on the iPad.  I already tried turning the wifi off, hoping that the hijacking malware wouldn't be able to reload but its still there. On the mbp, we force quit Safari but i don't know how to force quit Safari on the iPad.  Any assistance or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for all suggestions and advice.

Regards,

Ciaochiao

Do not interact with such messages.

Double tap the Home button, then swipe upwards on the Safari preview.

Go to Settings - Safari - Clear History.

    Restart Safari.

My Dear Niel to the rescue.  I was actually just going to find one of you 'trusted fixtures'.  I thought one of you guys might know the answer.  Thank you so much.  It worked.  I should have bookmarked my tabs however, because a good deal of it was medical research sites; specifically orthopaedic surgical procedures.  I wish there was a 'Niel" in our medical community.  There are many who THINK they're a 'Niel' or 'Kappy' but believe me, none are.  Thank you so much!

Is there not a 'this solved my problem' option here?  I'd like to officially give you the kudos (and points.)

This is the first time since owning the iPad, that the browser was hijacked. Aside from being careful, is there a setting or an app i can turn on or put in place in order to prevent further hijacking?  Have we just been lucky or are they just developing more 'hacks' that are finally infecting iPads? I was surprised because our tablet's 'old' and our iOS is also a few updates behind (intentional.)

Thanks again for your as always, invaluable assistance.

    Kind regards,

    Ciaochiao
