Oct 5, 2015 11:07 AM in response to Julibabesby LKGreenfield,Same for me, and it's also using a ridiculous amount of memory. I have turned off all the syncing except the calendar/contacts option because the rest doesn't work anyway. It's currently at 577MB and growing. This is after only one day of runtime as I too reinstalled yesterday.
Really?

Oct 6, 2015 10:20 AM in response to Julibabesby fanThomas,Same for me on Windows 10 64bit, heats up my Laptop. I can kill the iCloud32 task then it's again normal. But suddenly it begins again, might be after days.

Oct 8, 2015 3:14 AM in response to Julibabesby Julibabes,Apple still investigating. They suggested I use a different browser than Internet Explorer, but I have all Syncing, including Bookmarks, turned off. So, my browser has no impact on iCloud.

Oct 8, 2015 6:16 AM in response to Julibabesby 7Fred7,I had exactly the same problem. Had no idea my cpu was overheating until I routinely opened Speccy. It showed the cpu at 95C. Task Manager showed iCloud was using 99% of my cpu cycles (i5-2500K, all cores at 4012 Hz). My cpu temp rarely reaches 70C even during heavy usage. I can live w/o a program that threatens to fry my cpu, so I uninstalled iCloud.

Oct 10, 2015 7:56 AM in response to Julibabesby SSRRDD,This obviously has nothing to do with Internet Explorer or any browser whatsoever. It is a really bad software error in this process. I have it, too.
The only way to fight it for now is to kill it and restart iCloud from Start menu -- until Apple will release update for it.

Oct 11, 2015 10:04 AM in response to Julibabesby ejm68,I also have this problem since a few weeks back. I'm running Windows 10 pro. Would be nice if Apple also could fix the photo synch. Must be a known problem for years by now.

Oct 13, 2015 6:49 PM in response to ejm68by pspressart,I had the same problem. I fixed it by uninstalling all the apple programs on my PC, deleting the common files\apple folders in c:\program files and c:\program (x86), then did a forced uninstall of icloud, with Revo Uninstaller which cleaned up all the files and registry entries. I then reinstalled iTunes and iCloud and it.works fine now..

Sep 20, 2016 6:30 AM in response to Julibabesby Julibabes,On case number ****, Apple responded on 12 October - "The issue is under investigation and the solution will come as an update for the
iCloud for Windows. There are workarounds besides iCloud for syncing bookmarks from your windows pc to your iPhone to use until the issue is resolved."I uninstalled iCloud.

Oct 17, 2015 8:07 AM in response to Julibabesby makchai,Same problem. Using Windows 7. Only photos are enabled to sync. Been this way for a long time and just have not used iCloud until I paid for it. Now I would like to resolve it. It seems the Windows OS does not matter though.

Oct 18, 2015 5:17 AM in response to makchaiby billyboy999,Same problem, Windows 7 64 bit. Been happening for a while now, I woke up today and when I got on my computer it was happening again. I have a 6-core CPU so it's only using 33%, but it's also consuming a hilarious 1.9GB of memory. I checked resource monitor, it's not reading anything from disk. Only fix is to kill the process.

Oct 18, 2015 11:41 PM in response to Julibabesby Mike_Irkutsk,I have the same problem.
Decided by writing a script in PowerShell, and periodically run through the Windows scheduler.
That is, created a file called "icloud_restart.ps1 " with the following content:
"
Stop-Process -Name iCloudServices -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
Start-Sleep -s 60
Start-Process -FilePath "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\iCloud.exe"
Start-Sleep -s 20
Stop-Process -Name iCloud -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
"
Then, set the scheduler to run this file every 8 hours.
I understand that it's a crutch, but it works.
I would be grateful for comments/corrections.
Thank you.

Oct 19, 2015 1:56 AM in response to Mike_Irkutskby 7Fred7,Well done, Mike.
If it's possible for people patch together a palliative so promptly, could it mean that Apple are rather unduly dragging their feet in eliminating the problem? Generally speaking, competition is a good thing; but between them, Microsoft and Apple seem to be running headlong in the race around the development circuit, w/o due attention to critical details. For my part, I will forgo iCloud until Apple deal with it.
