Using macbook air, early 2014. Have an external hd, exfat 1 TB that I can't see or access some directories or the files in them.

If I "ls" in term the parent directory it shows the problem directory, if I "ls -l" not there? They don't show up in Finder either. If I try to cd /suspectDirectory it says directory not found. They are there and fine if I plug the drive into my linux box. Looking at all the files and dir in linux box they don't seem any different  permissions than all the other directories.

Is there some sort of bug in the exfat drivers for mac. I'm an old Linux guy and am fairly new to the Mac, but it seems pretty close to the same at the command line anyway.

Thanks

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

This is about a year old, so hopefully it's fixed, but I was curious, is it because the Mac doesn't recognize the dir structure in a fat drive?  I think it knows on USB drives, but I think HDs must be HFS.  Not sure though.  ??
