Oct 8, 2015 4:27 AM in response to Gs29by Akbar1906,Exactly the same issue as mine. Whatsapp/Line/Skype call is not working if it is on loudspeaker (the other side only hear static noise). On normal position (phone on ear) everything is fine. Siri can't hear me, but if I use earphone, Siri works fine. (I am worried that one of the microphone is not working)
Strange thing is if I call with Facetime audio, loudspeaker works fine. Voice memo also works fine (maybe the other microphone works??)
I tried these things when I contact Apple Support:
1. recording voice memo (to check bottom microphone)
2, recording video using back camera (to check top microphone)
everything seems fine. the sound quality is good for both case.
Then they suggest me to restore the iphone but not uploading back up (to see if it is a software problem that could be cause by third party apps)
I'll try to do that.
Last one is to go to Apple to get it fixed if it is a hardware issue (I hope not)
Do you resolve the problem? Would love to hear your update.
Thanks

Oct 12, 2015 6:40 AM in response to Akbar1906by Gs29,nothing will work they will keep asking you to do the same things and don't send the phone to them they are not capable of find the issue. The best to do is get a genius bar appointment and show them what is the problem. the problem is that your bottom mic is not working, I went to apple store and they replaced the phone in warranty for a new one and that solved the problem (even though I had to have a second replacement as the first one went dead 2 hours after I left the store)

Oct 31, 2015 3:14 PM in response to Akbar1906by DaddyOFTheMacDaddy,I've tried all the solutions found here on this forum without success. I was on the phone with Apple support for about an hour without success. I have since gotten a new phone and all I now can use Siri again, however prior to the new phone arriving, I searched on YouTube and found a couple of people with the same issue of their Siri not working. Two of the YT channels realized the ribbon cable for the mic was not working. They replaced the ribbon cable and all was fine.
Hope this helps those still searching for a solution. Buy a mic cable on eBay and try.

Nov 30, 2015 6:14 AM in response to nicole1285by jhh44,I am also having the same issue with SIRI and my voice txt messaging... I am an avid apple follower, but this is absolutely absurd that APPLE would let this go without fixing the issue since it seems to be pervasive in the community... I am losing faith in APPLE providing a quality product... I have had other minor issues that I don't hear anyone experiencing on the SAMSUNG.

Dec 10, 2015 2:04 PM in response to Paulie in LAby robarooo,Resetting the network settings actually restarts your phone in the process. I actually think that resetting the network settings doesn't actually do anything. It's the restarting of the phone that fixes the problem. I think this because I restarted my phone manually (without resetting the network settings) and siri worked after restart but only for a few days and then it stopped working again. This tells me that it's a software issue. Anyone who gets a phone replacement and says the issue is fixed should wait a few days. Siri always works for a few days after restart and then it stops working. So when you get a new phone sure it'll work but just give it a few days and you'll see siri stops working again. I hope apple fixes this bug soon.

Jan 8, 2016 9:30 PM in response to robaroooby aveulivm,I have the same issue with Siri not working with built in mic, but it would work with headphones. So I tried the unthinkable, I tried Google and Cortana. To my amazement they both work great with the built in mic. Who would have thought. Apple needs to get this resolved.

Jan 8, 2016 9:34 PM in response to aveulivmby bryan.vance,Youre comparing Apple to oranges...
Cortana and Google use the bottom mic I believe.
Siri uses the top mic where the receiver is.
YOu can test this by recording a video with the front camera and see if it records sound.
THe bottom mic is used for calls and you can test it by recording a voice memo.

Jan 8, 2016 9:36 PM in response to bryan.vanceby bryan.vance,SIri not hearing you is usually caused by debris in the receiver mesh.
Try brushing the receiver with a clean toothbrush and then test the front mic again.

Jan 8, 2016 9:43 PM in response to bryan.vanceby adammusic, siri wouldnt work on my dads 6. Had to send it to apple to repair. Replaced microphone. Others online complained of same thing, not debris. Resetting etc wouldnt fix it. I Would suggest getting it repaired through apple if still under warranty, if the basic troubleshooting options dont work.

Jan 10, 2016 9:18 PM in response to adammusicby bryan.vance,There is no mic that is replaceable by Apple.
They might have swapped the display
They likely swapped the phone.
