- opened System Prefs
- selected iCloud
- clicked on iCloud Drive Options and turned on Pages and other iWork apps
Once that was done, my Pages docs stored in iCloud reappeared!

You have to either upgrade or turn iCloud Drive on in your settings (it's right between the privacy and Mail sections) then make sure you have pages ticked on in the iCloud Drive section. When it upgrades or you turn it on it should start to download your documents. Once you do that the pages 'tab' in settings should stay green. I hope this works for you cause I almost had a melt down when my hundred page document disappeared. (but its back now that I did all that)
