AIRDROP IS A CAR CRASH  Please help

My mac (yosemite 10.10.5) can discover my ipadAir and iphone5 but has decided it will not connect and therefore not share  files.

this feature has worked for me between the same devises in the past, but its like lots of things everytime a software update is necessary and carried out (all devises) I find something somewhere doesn't work anymore!!!! Please apple sort it out.

The iPad and iPhone will share files but the mac just shows  'Waiting' and then never connects to either of them.

This Airdrop feature is supposed to make file sharing easy but its not, it a torturous waste of time.

Can anyone help please.

Many thanks

I too am experiencing this. In my case I have 2 out of 4 of my iOS devices updated to iOS 9.0.2, with my 2 MACs both on OS X 10.10.5.

Airdrop is very inconsistent about being able to recognize the devices. It seems to work for me about 50%-60% of the time - usually after alot of fiddling - and after assuring that both devices say "Airdrop Everyone"

-if one device sees the other but the other can't see it - after waiting 15-30 secs, cancel the request and try again

    - try initiating an Airdrop from the other device -cancel the request-wait more

-try again, turn of and on bluetooth-try again

    etc

I am aware that different devices have different antennas and bluetooth technology but the

    AirDrop issues persist-

    iphone 6S plus

    iphone 6 plus

ipad mini 3 retina wifi only

    mac book air mar 2015

    mac mini 3 late 2014

I considered if there might be electromagnetic interference- kind of unlikely, I am 1 mile from any neighbors, 15 miles from any commercial or utility plants, only electronic devices in the building are the internet router and an airport express. All my computers are using the airport express for the wifi connection.
