Oct 13, 2015 8:01 AM in response to andy jsby Glenn Leblanc,With the split view window active, put the mouse at the top of the screen to make the toolbar show and click on the green button again on one of the apps. That will remove that app from split view. You will have to select the other app also and do the same to remove it from full view.
You can also use Control-Command-F keys to remove the active app in Split view, then select the other app and use the same keys to remove it from Full View.
You can also go to Mission Control window (my keyboard is set to either the F3 key or Control-Up Arrow keys. From there, you will see the split view app combined. You can put the mouse over the split view icon and arrow keys will appear at the upper left of the icon. Click it and it will remove the split view apps.

Oct 13, 2015 8:37 AM in response to Glenn Leblancby andy js,That's not practical, not as practical as the long-press to activate Split View, I thought there would be another long-press to de-activate it.

Oct 13, 2015 8:45 AM in response to andy jsby Glenn Leblanc,Well I gave you 3 ways to do it. Whether or not it's practical, I don't know of another way. If there is another way, someone else will have to tell us.
Send feedback to apple and let them know your concerns.

Oct 13, 2015 8:49 AM in response to andy jsby Topher Kessler,Try going to your split screen view and pressing the Escape key. In some cases it may not work, but in most it should drop the active window from split view.
