Q: Why is my dock changing monitors

It just seems to happen. My dock is properly situated on the bottom of my main monitor and hey presto it suddenly moves to my secondary monitor. Just like that. A restart restores order but golly, why?

    Hi ilim,

I understand that your Dock is moving over to your secondary display. I can help clarify some things for you. This will likely be due to the feature of secondary displays having their own spaces. With that, you should see the Menu Bar at the top on both monitors as well as the Dock moving from one display to the other when you are using the secondary monitor and manage to get done

If you would like to keep the dock on one display, you can do that by going to System Preferences > Mission Control and uncheck "Displays have separate Spaces". This will keep the Dock and Menu Bar on one display.

This feature was introduced in OS X Mavericks and has been in releases afterwards. For more details, take a look at the article below,

    Take care

Thank you Norm123. I did have the thought that it could have something to do with Spaces... A close don't count guess.
