Q: iPhone 6 Glass Screen Protectors do not work on 6s

Picked up my new iPhone 6s on Friday. Always have used glass screen protectors on all my iPhones. Currently have the Zagg HD Glass on my work phone (iPhone 6 Plus). Anyway, picked up new 6s, grabbed a Zagg Invisible Shield HD Glass protector. Went to apply it, and it will not seat the entire edge of the device. About 1/4" in from the edge towards the center, it leaves about 1/4" gap where you can visibly see the glass protector has not seated the glass all the way.

Long story short, 6 screen protectors later, tried using an off brand at the kiosk at a local mall, (made for iPhone 6), and same deal. Was at the Apple store earlier, and told that the glass in the 6s is the same exact curvature as the 6. Went back to the Apple store later that day, was told the curvature is completely different.

The gentleman who sold me the off brand protector at the mall kiosk said he had the same exact issue with a customer earlier that day, had them return the phone (6s) for a new one and he was able to apply the protector no problem. At this point I walked into the Apple store and was told that the curvature is different and need to wait for new protectors spec'd to fit the 6s.

I know Zagg makes the Glass Luxe for the 6s, but I am not a fan of the colors.

My question is, can anyone confirm the curvature of the glass is in fact different than the 6? I've applied numerous Zagg Glass protectors on my 6 and never has this issue.

    Neither the Spigen or Zagg fit properly on the 6S. They both show an air gap along the vertical edges. The Zagg DOES fit properly on the 6s Plus though. Zagg is supposedly working on a fix for the 6s Glass.

    Good to know abarnard. I also heard back from Anker. They too are aware of the problem and said they should have a 6s-specific glass protector out by the end of October.

    @abarnard,

    Where did you hear Zagg is working on a fix for the 6s Glass?

    Thanks!

    @jbailey3368

    A user on the MacRumors forum talked to a Zagg rep who said a fix is in the works.

    I am so glad I'm not the only one that is having this problem.  At first I thought I got a protector that didn't have adhesive applied to it correctly, but when the second one arrived and it was doing the exact same thing, I knew something was amiss.  I went to the Zagg kiosk at one of the malls here, and the guy working said people were having issues with the edges coming up - which only confirmed what I thought was the problem.  I contacted Zagg today (14 Oct) and they said a fix is in the works, but they don't have a time frame just yet as to when the new one will be available.

    I am crazy OCD when it comes to my phone and I am getting EXTREMELY frustrated with this issue. I am out almost $200 on various screen protectors; 1 Mime Air Glass, 1 Mime Feather+, 2 Digic Ultra-Thin, 1 Verizon brand, 1 Sprint, and several other off-brands that I purchased from the electronics accessory kiosk at my local mall... ALL having the same issue with not adhering around the edges of the screen where the curve begins. I even exchanged the phone for a different 6s from the apple store to see if maybe it was a defect in the one I received and it is STILL happening with the new one (Which was before I found this thread and learned about the difference in the curvature, so I suppose the fact that I exchanged it is not very relevant, but goes to show the lengths I've taken to troubleshoot the issue). My iPhone 6s has been in the box, unactivated, since launch day (other than taking it out to try applying screen protectors to it) and I am honestly considering just returning the thing and just sticking with my 4 if I can't find something soon (I told you I was crazy). I don't want to use it without any protection for the screen and ABSOLUTELY do not want to have to stuff the thing into a case. Yuck! Has anyone found a screen protector that doesn't create this "halo" effect around the edges yet (preferably in the .1 to .2mm range, and completely clear, i.e. no colored borders like on those awful "edge-to-edge" protectors)? PLEASE, if anyone has found anything that works, I would really appreciate any input.

    I hear you man. MacRumors has a forum on this topic http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/6s-6s-glass-protector-discussion-merged.1921 438/page-18. If you check the more recent threads a lot of people are have luck with this (colored edge to edge) one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010HUKFXE/ref=cm_cd_asin_lnk but nothing guaranteed. I'm thinking about picking one up but hate the long shipping. Apparently, Zagg is supposed to be working on one but with no time frame mentioned. I'm going naked myself. It's kind of scary but I have to say this screen is a lot better at scratch resistance than the iPhone 6. Good luck and keep us updated if you find anything please!

    I also tried different screen protectors with the same results.

    The only one that I had luck with is the Ice Max 3D from this company called GODOSMITH. It's pricey at $32.00 dollars but very well worth it. Many users have had mixed results, and I don't know why. This one was very easy to apply and it adhered completely to my 6S screen. I think it's in stock currently on Amazon with prime shipping as well. Mine came from China and took about a week and a half to arrive (before they had more in stock).

    I'm a long time Zagg user but those didn't work well on the 6S. I would need to vouch for the Ice Max 3D. Try it.

    Edit: So far, I have not found any clear ones that adhere properly. Only the colored edge to edge ones.They're not so bad after all since trying one out myself.

    If you don't mind a plastic screen protector, the Zagg HDX is a nice one and it works fine on the 6S. Their glass protectors don't at this point. As mentioned above, they have a fix in the works, but it may be a while. Beware that the HDX is a close fit and it needs to be centered perfectly to avoid the edge air gaps. Fortunately, it's easy to reposition with Scotch tape. Hope that helps.

    Hi all

    I've installed a Spigen full cover glass for my iPhone 6s but the result is awful .

    The side remain visibly detached from the screen and also top right corner is not attached whit a visible bubble.

    Very frustrated because the look and feeling it's very good but my eyes goes everytime to these imperfections.

    I've tried also to reapply it but nothing change .
    Waiting to see if the new Cupert Cinder will solve this problem.

    Hey guys, I just noticed that Anker has added its 6s compatible glass protector to Amazon. It's under the same listing as the one for the regular 6. It's the last of the 4 options IIRC. I ordered two to arrive Saturday so I'll post here after I'm done to confirm whether it works or not.

    Well, bad news I'm afraid. The Anker screen protector won't seal around any of the edges. Big ugly air bubble the whole way around the edge. There must be variances in the 6s screens. It seems unlikely that Anker would take the time to release a protector specifically for the 6s only to have the exact same problem as the version they make for the 6. Very strange. Anyway, as much as I don't want to, I think be it may be time to look at other option outside a glass protector. *Sad trombone*
