Sep 28, 2015 1:58 PM in response to Ralph Johns (UK)by qahtani,I'm pretty sure I checked that plist file but couldn't find anything there. I have no idea why I have invested so much time into this.

Sep 28, 2015 2:04 PM in response to qahtaniby Ralph Johns (UK),At the moment it look like today is the day this is going to work.
On another note my Magic Mouse has just died (I have changed the batteries). There is no light on the bottom.
I am using a very old two button mouse an keep stroking the top to scroll (it has not even got a wheel).

Sep 29, 2015 6:24 AM in response to Ralph Johns (UK)by qahtani,I loaded a virtual machine running Yosemite connected directly to the internet with no proxies. The install is fairly fresh and has never had any internet accounts added to it. I added a Yahoo account with only Messages enabled. Using two different connections it immediately disconnects.
I should mention that through all of this the official Yahoo client running on a Snow Leopard machine of mine works, as does Pidgin in Linux.

Sep 29, 2015 1:26 PM in response to qahtaniby Ralph Johns (UK),Hi,
The thing to do then is compare the ports and server the two apps are trying to connect to.
I believe the Apple Plug-in for iChat 6 and Messages is using a server called "developer.messenger.yahooapis.com" for part of the process.
I would guess it was set up for any developer that wanted to add an Yahoo function to an existing app or create an Yahoo client.
By looking at an older .plist for the Yahoo app I can see it listed port 443 but not what the server is called.
As the Messages app logs In but then gets thrown out and disconnects also adds to the intrigue.

Oct 4, 2015 11:54 AM in response to qahtaniby Ralph Johns (UK),Yep.
I believe it is being rejected by the server end.
I would guess Yahoo have done something like insist on SSL Logins which the Yahoo plugin does not do and the Users cannot change (Like they can for the AIM and Jabber accounts).

Oct 9, 2015 10:03 PM in response to Ralph Johns (UK)by qahtani,I sent Yahoo a message last night on Facebook about this. The following is the response i received.
Yahoo Messenger is no longer a supported property. What this means is that some features may not work and all we can provide are the troubleshooting articles we have on our Help pages: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/messenger. For product updates we recommend you keep an eye on our blog here: http://yahoo.tumblr.com/
So they are essentially saying it's an unsupported product and they will not be addressing any issues concerning it. Apple should either fix the plugin or remove it at this point.

Oct 11, 2015 1:26 PM in response to qahtaniby Ralph Johns (UK),Hi,
There have been no changes to the Yahoo for Mac App since 2012.
There are changes to Yosemite that means it does not work there or in later versions of the OS.
The Messages plug-in and the Yahoo app like using a web Login to use Messaging at Yahoo all use different servers.
The likely answer is that Yahoo have turned off a sever or two that Apple were using.
On the other hand this evening I have removed the com.apple.ichat.Yahoo.plist and the Auth token (rather than the Application password) from the Keychain and after 4 further attempts I am logged in.
I tried 3 attempts one after the other then left it for 1/2 an hour and then tried again. It has been logged in since.

Oct 14, 2015 11:48 AM in response to qahtaniby Ralph Johns (UK),Umm,
This one does seem to be tricky.
My Yahoo accounts did not login today.
First attempt did then the window collapsed straight away (I display all my Buddy List separately).
A re-read my last post to remind myself what I had done and then tried logging in again.
This time it appears to have worked.
This is going to be a real pain if that is what we have to do each time.

As you say, today it logged straight in without me having to 1) prompt it to do so and 2) without having to do so twice.
