Thank you for your reply.
Since El Capitan is a new release, I imagine there must still be bugs waiting to be fixed. The question now is:
What will I break by installing El Capitan in my attempt to fix Notes ? What apps will not run with El Capitan ?
What problems are you having with El Capitan, if any ?
Thank you in advance.

Oct 14, 2015 12:59 PM in response to apple_customerby trntogl,I've actually had minimal problems since downloading, I certainly had a whole lot more problems with Yosemite so this is a pleasure. I've the spinning wheel of death for at least a year, Apple can't seem to do anything about it but it has subsided a bit with this download. Some programs don't close without force quit, the download hasn't done anything to fix that. Some quirks in Photos that I had to fix, it seems lately I've had to put in my password to iCloud a number of times for everything but I don't mind the security of it and it seems to happen when I shut down rather than sleep so unless I really have to, I don't shut down. It is definitely worth it. A big one for me is in Photos, we can now sort by ascending/descending and for a photographer, that is a must so kudos on that... although that is software and not sure if El Capitan had anything to do with it or not....now if only they would alphabetize favorites!

Oct 20, 2015 4:53 PM in response to apple_customerby apple_customer,I am posting a follow-up and my own experience with El Capitan.
First the good news. The upgrade did fix Notes and it is now synchronizing across all platforms and all my devices (Macs, iPads and iPhones). The interface is clean and quite possibly one of the best I've seen to date. Apple has done a fantastic job and particular with typography. One wouldn't imagine that font choice could make an interface so easy and pleasant to work with but it does. The choice of fonts made by Apple is perfect in my opinion and reading information on screen now is just about as easy as it has ever been. Great job !
Now the bad news. The upgrade did fix Notes but it broke more things than I can count. The system is super slow, I keep seeing that spinning wheel all the time and it spins for a while. Applications are crashing. For instance, Photoshop CS6 freezes and hangs. I can't even get the system to Force Quit it. TWAIN driver sometimes recognizes the scanner attached to the computer and sometimes doesn't.
Overall I found the upgrade to NOT be worthwhile. Had I known what I know now, I would have waited until Apple had the opportunity to fix all the bugs before upgrading.
