Oct 14, 2015 2:24 PM in response to wrnrp123by iUS18,Terrific work, wrnrp123! I think you did an excellent job laying out the issue for Apple especially your emphasis on the loss of trust that has been created. I have seen the posts by several others recommending Akruto as an effective alternative to iTunes for syncing. Not something I would think Apple wants to see get going. It is hard to believe that being able to sketch in Notes is worth all of this.
Again, thank you for taking so much of your time to make this effort on everyone's behalf. Apple may not solve this to our satisfaction, but at least their management will have full knowledge of the chaos created.

Oct 14, 2015 2:35 PM in response to gadgetphanby iUS18,gadgetphan,
Thank you very much for the information about Akruto--I had never heard of it until reading about it in this forum. I really like the idea of a sync history with restoration capability. I too have thousands of contacts and most of my business and personal life runs through Outlook (pathetic, I know). This data is crucial to me so the thought of losing it keeps me awake at night. This recent episode with Notes being wiped out along with my experience the other day of having many of my Outlook Contact Notes truncated has me looking for an alternative to iTunes and this sounds like a good one. Please let us know over time if you remain satisfied.

Oct 14, 2015 3:03 PM in response to iUS18by gadgetphan,I've paid for it and have been using it for awhile now. It even kept working when I upgraded to Windows 10. You can check out the reviews here for more insights: http://www.shopperapproved.com/reviews/akruto.com/

Thank you, Dr. Nelson, that's the way to proceed. For me, this represents a major test to see how Apple will respond to an issue that has a substantial impact on many of its customers.

Oct 15, 2015 12:24 AM in response to wrnrp123by pepeidolioquintanilla,I think we all thank you for your effort. I've sent complains, but never reached any of high level staff.
Good!.
In the meanwhile I'm trying Akruto too...Looks like is working well, although it needs wi-fi or internet available. It has scared me when it asks you to erase all the contacts in your phone to avoid duplicates (!?), but doing bacakup before it i everything ok.
What it worries me is that now...Akruto sync with outlook, but iTunes sync multimedia content + Otulook (still). So, sync from two different sites is not very good idea (I can stop sync from iTunes, but it stops to sync ALL iTunes, including MMedia).
When doing with Akruto I was really sad...it reminded me the first versions of iOS when I wantes to sync with Outlook tasks and had to downloas applications and going around......very sad for "top" hardware....
I liked more iOS than Android because of usability, but definetly I'm looking now different to android...not so clear usability, but more flexible, and less surprises that if appears, you can arrange it.
Very SAD...

Oct 15, 2015 8:45 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby SCampb29,Is there a simple third-party Notes app that will synch to Outlook? Akruto was a bit daunting for me, and I'd much prefer to synch at work with a cable than at home via wifi.

Oct 15, 2015 11:06 AM in response to gadgetphanby 540perry,You mention syncing Outlook Tasks, can you tell me where they show up on your iPhone? Apple didn't seem to have a dedicated tasks app last time I looked. Thanks!

Oct 15, 2015 11:59 AM in response to SCampb29by gadgetphan,iOS apps come with Notes. Akruto syncs with that. Since you prefer USB, try Sync2. It only syncs Calendar and Contacts. The other software that does USB sync uses the cloud and I had a lot of trouble with it.

Oct 15, 2015 12:16 PM in response to pepeidolioquintanillaby gadgetphan,I use Akruto for Outlook since I'm constantly updating that. I use iTunes or file manager to transfer music/media, but hardly ever have updates. So it's no big deal having two apps. It was most important to have Outlook sync with my devices -- correctly, automatically, continuously, and privately.

Oct 16, 2015 12:50 AM in response to gadgetphanby pepeidolioquintanilla, yes, but if you sync with Outlook, do it with all Outlook...not half of it.
If you do something, do it well...

Oct 16, 2015 11:38 AM in response to pepeidolioquintanillaby gadgetphan,Akruto does sync with Outlook calendar, contacts, notes and tasks (reminders on iOS) and nothing else. It does not do email (that's in the Settings) or media. That's why it's so successful. Outlook and media are two different animals.

Oct 17, 2015 11:16 PM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby Monarke4,Seems I am having the same problem. Itunes claims the Iphone could not sync notes because it has "disconnected". I am using MS Outlook 2003 which had worked perfectly up until this upgrade. Now Itunes sync stops at notes and nothing after that is saved. Thanks Apple.
