Is there an app, or how do I, open a zip file sent from a lynix computer?

    You should have an app called Archive Utility.

     

    Do command-i on the file, and it should say 'open with'.

     

    Change that to Archive Utility and you should be good to go.

     

    EDIT: If you want to make sure all .zip files are opened, click the 'change all' button and all .zip files will be opened with Archive.
